Topic: New Pioneer DDj SX version 2 ! - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Hmm I have to save my money again!
New Pioneer DDJ SX 2 is coming september. I just want to buy it because of the multi colored pads I don't have now on the SX :)
Long live VDJ 8, because I believe this new controller will be supported much sooner now with the new VDJ architecture (I hope).

Literature mentions Serato obviously and there will be a Traktor file available too. No mention of VDJ.....

I really like this a lot!

The first SX mentioned Serato only.
I'm playing with VDj and SX since it was on the market thanks to this VDj community.

So I'm convinced the SX 2 will work with VDJ too :)

Yeah, unless they hardened the firmware or what ever it is, so that we can't use the serato mode.

Think positive :)

I do :)

With this coming out, that means the original SX will drop in price drastically since no one will buy it with the SX2 out.

Exactly! Here in Holland / Netherlands you can pre-order the SX2 for 999 Euro's
The same shops sell the (first) SX also for 999 Euro's...

I think a price drop is indeed the only choice left.

Just pre-ordered one. Delivery in the UK end September.

Will also give me a chance to try that other software and see how good it is as I have used VDJ exclusively since 2008

So no mention of VDJ then

Nothing, but there's not much literature out since it was only announced earlier today.

They're giving away the Serato Flip plugin with all units and Serato video with the first 10,000 which is actually a good gesture and surprisingly generous for Pioneer.

It mentions a TSI for Traktor will be available but I guess any mapping for VDJ will be done outwith Pioneer. One of my mates took round his original SX and it was impressive, but I only played about with Serato as I couldn't get the VDJ mapper to work in the short time I had.

I guess VDJ7 won't be supported with this either, and I'm not confident to take V8 to gigs yet as it's still beta but it's still 6 weeks away so you never know ......

They gave Serato Video with the first 10000 SX controllers too. Nothing new here.

Where did you see the "beta" word ?
We still develop and improve version 8, but if you havent read the news, version 8 is officially released !

As for the original Q, yes the Pioneer DDJ-SX2 will be natively supported with version 8 in time (wont take long after the official release), but it wont happen for version 7.

Any software that still crashes frequently and is missing basic functionality the previous version had is still beta as far as I am concerned.

The beta word is in the license section of my VDJ 8 config. It's also part of the phrase getBetaBuilds, which is in the config.

It's in the name of the regression bugs forum. It's also in My Account - "Get Beta builds" with a tick box next to it.

So despite all this evidence, it's not beta software?

And the company clearly tells you to use version 7 for that important gig. Every gig is important to me.

I think it's foolish of Atomix to desert version 7 so soon as a lot of people are not convinced by 8. I could say a lot more but nobody from the company listens anyway, despite a lot of users on here getting feedback from other djs and having used the software for many years.

This has the same feeling to me as the mess Microsoft are digging themselves in to with Windows 8.

Keith, i really dont see any crash reported in your account. So unless your computer is offline at that moment, you are probably judging without any personal experience ? If you do get a crash (offline) and Team is not aware of that, have you reported it ?

Which one is the basic functionality of version 7 that you miss from version 8 ?

@Groovin, yes the "beta" word is visible to those who choose to go that way. But the public build is not beta.
We keep developing and fixing reported issues of course, but before we deliver that build to public we make sure its as stable as possible.

I deeply apologize to the fans of the Pioneer DJ-SX2 who are probably more interested in news about that controller, rather than debating if version 8 is a beta version or not.

It never stops. This thread is about the new Pioneer unit, so let's keep the focus on that.

Sorry. Hijacking a thread is bad. I apologise.
