I have the source button mapped to just "linein" this works fine in vdj 7 but on 8 it just changes to "Microphone Input" for the deck.
Did the mapping change in vdj8 or is this a bug?

Microphone is considered an Input. So if the Microphone is selected in the Audio Setup, then yes, it would choose that.
Try .. get hasmic ? linein 'mic' : linein

this was it, my audio config didn't have the linein's set up. I added line in 1 and 2 to the corresponding channels and its working as it did before. I removed the mic from my config since the 4mx just has a mic mixer built into the hardware
