Topic: Skin Engine: Interpretation of the xml (Windows vs. Mac.).

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,
I wonder if someone could help me:
I played a little bit with the original skin of the VDJ 8 software.
I decided to change for example the color of the Jogwheel, and to add a bpm textzone on it.

I was surprised. There are great differences in the appearance regarding the result of the jogwheel color-change between WIN and Mac version of VDJ.
Notice: The .xml and the .png I used, were the same for Mac and Win.

The first picture shows the result using the Windows version
The second picture shows the result using the Mac version (the bpm text is only visible in the jogline)

I'am not able to reach the windows result for my Mac

Best regards Dirk

If instead of a pure white, you use a very light grey, does it change anything ?
Are you using B/W masks or the elements are drawn with transparent background ?

Btw, i have experienced the same issue here with a skin a user sent me to check..didnt have time to take a look though. Will do.

1.) Changing the color to light grey - same result.
2.)Elements were drawn with transparent background (saved as .png with photoshop)

I also changed the color from pure white to white with a little touch of red.
The bpm textzone is programmed with color black in the .xml file.
That is the result:

Can you try to remove the <scratch> element (if any exists) ? I believe, that one should be the only one that uses a B/W mask.
How about reverted colors ? Black jog, white textzone ?

I will try to remove the scratch elements this afternoon .
Reverted colors: Black Jog / white textzone > works - ( there are some other skins using this combination.).

Here you can see another surprise: White text, jogline is transparent for the bpm text, blue text , the jogwheel is not transparent. ( I only changed the color of the text)

Yes, i see that there is an issue with the colors (they depend on the background color) . For a moment i thought this was made intentionally from the dev team to avoid Serato look skins :P

will report. Thank you

Do not forget: Running VDJ 8 on a Windows PC means the skin colors are OK :-)
