Hello,
Say that I have 4 buttons that I have assigned effects to while they're pressed and I have a single slider that I want it to work with the effect I have active with a button. Here's an example:
I press button 1, reverb turns on, and the slider is used to adjust the reverb.
I press button 2, turns on echo, and then the same slider adjust the echo.
How would I go about doing this?

the simplest way is to select the effect as default and trigger is at the same time.
so the buttons should be ..
effect_select 'Reverb' & effect_active
effect_select 'Echo' & effect_active
and the slider should be
effect_slider 1
so the buttons should be ..
effect_select 'Reverb' & effect_active
effect_select 'Echo' & effect_active
and the slider should be
effect_slider 1
