Topic: Seek command with Hercules MP3e2

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Used vdj8 live on Saturday with no issues other than one found by chance. Don't normally use the seek buttons, but the controller fell off the table it was precariously balanced on and noticed deck 2 continuously skipping through the song infinitely until I restarted vdj. After a bit of digging tonight it appears to be the seek command that's doing it. From reading what its meant to do, just seek when pressed I found once pressed it just carries on and on, even when putting a new song on the deck. Could just be an issue with this controller but thought I'd let you guys know, Ive just disabled the buttons for now anyway as they're not used :)

Hi,
Could you please do a test for us and provide some data ?
Use this application .. http://www.virtualdj.com/download/miditrace.exe
Once Miditrace is launched, select the Hercules device from the 2 lists you will see on the right-side.
then press and Hold the Seek button from Hercules down. It will report a line with data that will probably look like this
90 0C 7F 00 (while pressed)
90 0C 00 00 (when released)

Could you verify that it behaves like the above or maybe its toggling like this..
90 0C 7F 00 (when pressed 1st time)
90 0C 00 00 (when pressed 2nd time)

Thank you

Run the test for you..

Left Deck
For positive seek

When pressed 90 0D 7F 00
When released 90 0D 00 00

For negative seek

When pressed 90 0C 7F 00
When released 90 0C 00 00

Right deck
Positive seek

when pressed 90 21 7F 00
when released 90 21 00 00

Negative seek

when pressed 90 20 7F 00
when relased 90 20 00 00

This is on windows 8.1 if that helps.

Please test again with builds ending at .665 or later (let the software get updated for a few minutes- a couple of relaunches may be required)
