Topic: Trouble copying hard drive

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

What's up everyone. I just bought a hard drive to use with my MAC formated to FAT32 and am trying to copy the files on my original western digital.
Apparently i have duplicate files on my hard drive which does not surprise me but every time i start copying the hard drive 5 minuted into copying it stops telling me can not continue copying because if those duplicate files .
Is there a setting i can change to over ride this feature. I have close to 750 GB of music and videos and would hate to have to clean this hard drive up before copying it . I haven't had any problems doing this in the past, only with the mac.

Thanks in advance, Alex.

Try to format the drive in "MAC OS PLUS" format.

The FAT32 have some limitations like long names and files can't be bigger than 4gb.

Other solution is to compress all you library splitted in files not bigger than 4gb and later copy those compressed files in your FAT32 drive.

Good luck my friend.
