Topic: Playing mp4 files on a 2nd system..

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

My system and my friends system are the same..
Same software
Same codecs
Same decoders

But when I try to load the mp4 files in his VDJ it just says ERROR
They play on his system in Quicktime AND Windows Media Player just fine... Any idea what would cause them NOT to play in VDJ?

Thanks

Check the codec settings inside Virtual DJ's config>codecs page. Make sure to set it to Video Decoder.

Which version of VirtualDJ? And what codec for MP4 ?

Its actually Virtual VINYL and its 5.0.7
The k-lite bundle of codecs are installed...

and add to this cstoll... I recently reformatted my system and my VV plays the mp4's fine with NO codecs installed.. other than those that must come as part of the vista OS anyway

Get rid of the KLite codec. I was havin issues with freezing mp4 and per the advice of CStoll I got rid of it and the problems.

yea I agree I don't like stuff like that on a system. I installed it to see if it would resolve the issue and when it didnt I promptly uninstalled it :-)

any other ideas?
