Topic: Video Cards and Directx

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm running XP with an ATI RADEON 2600 HD PRO video card (PCI-E)

I've been having periodic issues with green lines on the second display only. I've tried different codec packs , and finally just went back to the factory settings and softeware from AMD/ATI.

Question:

How is it when I disable directx accelerations on Display #1 (vdj interface screen) and leave DirectX accelerations on display #2 at full, things look very good, no lines etc.

Do vid Cards work that way with independant acceleration settings on each display out?

It doesn;t matter to me if the primary display doesn;t have the graphic smoothness, but the secondary display is a must. This seems the only thing that solves the problem completely; Other than installing DirectX 10 and Vista. This card was made for DirectX 10 - it was one of the first I believe.

I bought the damn card 6 months ago and its already out of date .

Inquiring myself about video, I've seen this:

there are 2 options which you can change by Registry Tool

1) VideoDeinterlaceWMP: if you assign .VOB files to the WMP video decoder, depending on the mpeg2 codec installed in WMP some of them don't do the deinterlacing properly, so this setting tells vdj to redo it itself after WMP.
0 - disable
1 - enable

2) VideoYV12Bug: it forces the internal video decoder to uses rgb surfaces instead of yuv in directX, because some old weird video cards incorrectly reported that they could do yuv while in fact they couldn't.

To change the value of this key, you need of that tool (but you have to be at least "Professional User")

P.S: I don't know if it allows to you to fix that issue

Thank you so much about your compliment:-)

Which parameter did you change by Registry tool?

This allows to bring the right setting to other users's knowledge

DJ Marcel_1 sorry about my old post.
If you have got a Sapphire video card, you should download the driver by the sapphiretech site
http://www.sapphiretech.com/il/support/drivers.php

You can choose your own video card in VGA field.

P.S: these drivers are optimized only for Sapphire video card.

Enjoy:-)

I stress this for other users: NEVER CHANGE THE BIOS OF YOUR VIDEO CARD!!
It's too dangerous for that because if you install one wrong version or an incompatible one, you can lose the functionalies of your card and so you are compelled to throw away it (it not allowed to look at your monitor any more)
