This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Software & setting:
Win XP SP2
VDJ v 5.1
Latency settings: Auto (when I use the Xponent)
DirectX 9.0c (Oct 2007)

Hardware:
HP laptop NX9420
CPU Intel core 2 T7200 2 GHz 2000
Video ATI Mobility Radeon X1600
Memory 2GB
External HD (fire wire 400)
Sound card / controller 1: Hercules DJ Console MK2
Sound card / controller 2: Xponent
(I'm connecting just one controller at the same time)

The problem: crackle
When I play music from WMP11 the sound is good no crackle at all (the sound play via the card Hercules or Xponent)
But when I open the VDJ I have from time to time crackle (approximately 4 crackles per minute) what can be the solution?

Have you tried with the performance slider all the way to the left?

Try Setting your mk2 to Asio mode, then try virtualDJ.

Thanks for the suggestion I did update DirectX to the latest version - March 2008
Ultra-Latency is checked Safe Mode and Over clock are unchecked
but the crackle STILL THERE!

I have VDJ since ver 3.2 I don’t remember if I had this problem then but I know that in ver 4.x and 5.x I had it.
When I play dance or house music it is very difficult to notice this crackles but when I play some soft or slow music it is very annoying.
All the time I put the blame on Hercules but now after I purchase the Xponent it remain the same problem

Some note
1. If I use the VDJ with built-in soundcard of the laptop I don’t have the crackle
2. If I paly music on WMP11 with one of the soundcard Hercules or Xponent I don’t have the crackle
3. I can reproduce the crackle if I put the mouse and move the panel line on the browser (only with the USB soundcard Hercules or Xponent)
4. I play also VJ and I use VOB file some of them are 500 MB and my laptop handle it very easy I use this laptop only for DJing so there isn’t any other software or applications

Your report is very clear and organized. If only everyone could write like that ;-)

Do you use an USB mouse? Maybe the mouse is the problem...

Something that you can test too:
"How to manually manage processor time" ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308417/en-us )
=> select "Background services"

any way i disconnected the mouse and manually manage processor time to Background services
but the crackle still there

I have two last steps be4 i will give up (maybe 3)
1. upgrading to XP SP3
2. new XP (sp2) installation

3 Vista 64 SP1 can be an option????

i will give u my conclusion after i will do it
