as i know, the gain value is stored in the database, too

The Autogain function behaves differently depending on how you set it in config>options. Have a look at p. 37 in the new manual for details (it was part of the install pkg., start>VirtualDJ>User Guide).
As far as scanning, you could do that, but, as long as you allow the track to fully load before playing it, the gain will be set according to your options preference ;)

autogain disabled and using mp3gain to adjust the mp3 files is the business for me (no need to rescan either!) but this is something for everyone to decide what is best for them.
