Topic: [NEW VERSION] VirtualDJ Pro v5.1 - Page: 6

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

i think i know what they're talking about now that i see it. the main scrolling waveform at the top isnt the one they're talking about. it's the preview waveform below it. it was really confusing to see it get even smaller when i tried the automix. the large waveform was handier for setting cuepoints, especially at the beginning of the trackyou could see that first point in many cases without having to move anything. haves used it for that myself quiet a few times.

Yeah that doesn't work as it throws the position of the wave off, try it on "Full" and see. What vales would i need.

This might be the "dumbest" post yet but I have always been told that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Can I just install this newest version of VDJ as stand alone and not overwrite the old version(5.0.7) that I'm using? I want to make sure that I don't lose anything.........I guess the real question is this.........What is the best way to evaluate this update without compromising anything that has been working great so far. I have VDJ 5.0.7 installed on my laptop and it works AMAZING!!!! All my music is on a external and if I, for what ever reason, don't like this update, will it affect my database? And also, I use the MixMaster skin......will this work with the new version?

Golly, I hate being the newbie....

1) COPY the CURRENT 5.0.7 exe file (virtualdj.exe) and rename the COPY inside Programfiles/VirtualDJ to say VirtualDJ_507.exe
2) Install VDJ 5.1 upgrade.

Now you can run 5.1 with the new (overwritten) virtualdj.exe, and 5.07 with your made VirtualDJ_507.exe

:)

To have both versions on your system, simply right-click on the current virtual DJ desktop shortcut and choose "open file location". Then rename "virtualdj.exe" to something else like "virtualdj_v5.0 rev7.exe"

Then right click on this and choose Send To -> Desktop (create shortcut).

Now you've renamed your old version of vdj and made a new desktop shortcut.

You can now install the new version as normal and it won't delete the old one.

After I'd done that, I followed the same process for the new version and renamed it to "VirtualDJ 5.1 rev1" so that when the next version comes out I don't have to worry about deleting anything I don't want to.

Xponent (fixed) Yes love it

I don't have time play with it but tonight its on

thanks

Thanks for the amazing update!
For me the greatest news are harmomic mixing and key detect.
However I think that auto key match function does not work right!
For example it suggests that key Cm (05A) and C (08B) would mix harmonically, but they don't.
Matching be based on Camelot Key: For example Am (08A) and C(08B) would match...

I LUV U GUYS!, THIS UPDATE IS THE BOMB, can I say BOMB?......the video recording feature is AWESOME.....I have always been impressed with VDJ...you guys ROCK!!!!!!!THANKS BUNCHES.....

OK, apart from the new skin only being provided in one size, which does not fit they type of monitors that are most common now (widescreen high resolution - up to full HD), I have noticed that - according to VDJ - every song in my collection is in a minor key.

How can that be?

I've scanned lots of files and so far, not one has been marked as being in a major key!

PLEASE guys, provide some WIDESCREEN skins as standard.

I kinow there's a selection of skins for download, but they are (mostly) not marked with their size.

A good starting point would be the two standard HD resolutions, followed by other common (in 2008) widescreen sizes such as 1440x900.

Well my laptop is widescreen.. I am using 5.07 and the skin fits nice.. will the new skin work??

A min to Cmaj ..... like Light my Fire by the Doors ??

Cmaj to Cmin is fine if ....you're really avant garde or tone deef ......

we couldn't even get to the 24 hr mark without complaints ....sheesh ..... Tayla i won't make any bets with ya .....

thanks dev team !!!!!!! good job

hey where's Norway been ?? driving his Ferrari 'round the Alps , while the CEO works on Sunday ?????

edit uuuuhhhhh 'course i don't even know where the Alps are , i think Wisconsin ......

The new key feature is awesome, quick scroll for the RMX now works properly, BPM detection is MUCH better. I've still got lots of experimenting to do (especialy on my timecode system), but thus far a great release;^]

Hey, I've got a better example of what I was trying to explain earlier.

http://www.crankspinracing.co.uk/forum/uploads/waves.jpg

I use this bar when cueing much like you would on some CDJ1000s or when looking at the groves on vinyl. Now that it is half the size it makes my life alot harder. With some tracks you can barely make out the wave form in the new version. Any chance of changeing it back or at least providing the option to have the new or old style? Please?

Can you see on the old wave, in the blue bit, there is a definate divide half way through where it gets slightly larger. Thats where the snare kicks in.
Now on the new wave form the line is totally straight so you cant tell where it comes in anymore. :(

The whole thing is half the size argh!

Are you sure on that , It only looks like 3-4mm smaller at the most from where I'm sitting. I can still read the wave fine

Considering it's only about 8mm in the first place i'd say that's about half smart ass. I'd rather not spend the whole gig with my head buried in the laptop trying to makeout a tiny waveform. It's alot easyier to quick glance at it, as it was before. As yes it happens with all the old skins.

It's my only issue, the reast of the updates are great. Cheers.

Calm down lad, there is no need to start throwing your toys out of the pram. I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill myself. What I would suggest is, try and find a skin where the wave form is bigger.

Sorry i read it as though you were delibrately trying to shun the point i was making. I'd rather stick with the nice clear default skins thanks. I'm sure its fine for those using the CBG, automix, sync etc. But i dont, seeing as soon as I go back to CDJs and Turntables they are not there, so i'd rather not rely on them.

What you are seeing is the result of the improved - AutoGain

Go to Config -> Options tab , Second column - what is your AutoGain settings set to ?

Auto gain is set to disabled.
I would never use this feature as i'd rather make any fine adjustments if necessary myself.
