You should use 32bit OS, it is too early for 64bit systems, VDJ can work, but you must do many tweaks and new drivers for all your hardware to be able to work in 64 Vista.
That error that is you getting is regarding sound card, your drivers is not ok or you need to select it in Sound Config.

Thx, but already got the 64 bit version, can I switch it to 32 bit? If not do you know hw to config the 64 bit to get it to work? Do you think getting the VDJ Pro edition will make it work? Getting so frustarted with thisnew laptop, why did I get 64 bit..!

I know, I really don't understand why they sell 64bit OS anyway?
Post here your entire spec, PC hardware, Sound card etc.

Cheers fella, I've just bought a custom build one from PCSPECIALIST it's got: Intel(R)Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7700 @2.40Ghz 2.40 Ghz. 3GB RAM. Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1. It's got a Hi Def sound card. Is that what you need fella? Not sure where I get any further info?

Do you use MK2 as a sound card or the one on the motherboard? For both you need 64bit drivers, which there might not be.

Do you think it is worth upgrading to VDJ Pro? Would this solve the problem? And if so I've seen a link where you can upgrade to it for a lot cheaper than the original cost in one of the blogs but can't find it anymore....

Um not sure..the one in mother board should be 64 bit as that works but from understanding the one in the MK2 isn't, I have tried diabling the mother board one and opening the VDJ Software but no joy....is there any way around this?

First of all have you thought about getting a OEM copy of 32bit Vista, or even downgrading to XP. XP will be dirt cheap now. And do a fresh install of the new OS.

Try reinstall the drivers for the mk2 using a different usb port and alwys use that port with the mk2, do not use any other. If you do then the mk2 will not be recognized and you may get a error message.

If you are using the version of VirtualDJ (Home version 3.4.1) that came with the mk2, the software will not open or start unless the mk2 is connected. That version is tied to the console.

The DirectX sound driver message you were getting, all that is I think, is the software has noticed a change in the sound setup from last time you opened VirtualDJ, and shows that error

I hope this helps you

Cheers jimmy, I can't downgrade my software cos apparently when i spoke to the people who built it with the spec I was requesting I had to have the Vista 64 bit. So don't think I can? OK I'lltry to re install using different usb, see if that helps? I've updated the firmware also, don't know if thats made problem worse or not? Thanks

I'm glad I could help, may be soon you might want to up grade pro....it's worth it

Anyway Happy Spinning.

Have you got a Performance tab in the Home edition I can't quite remember, if you have Move the preset slider all the way to fastest and put latency on auto. If you haven't try this,

On the herc Control panel, click on the Asio mode button look at the Asio buffer level, I think it's set at 960 as default, try raising it to round about 2000-2400. I always ran in Asio mode as I found it far better the WDM mode.

Give that a try mate.

Nice one, and thank you kind Sir, lol. I knew all the problems you where having....................because I had the exact ones, when I first started with VirtualdDJ and the mk2 over 14 months ago :)

Asio mode it's only really for external control like running TCV or TCCD's but I found with my set up it helped everything to run sweet, don't know why but it did.

Glad it's all sorted.
