Hello...I have a serious problem...
I have a MacBookPro and the Hercules DJ Console RMX.
The VDJ Console Edition is working but my VDJ Pro Edition 5.08 I bought right now not, because it's saying "Protection Error" after initializing the Soundengine...who could help me please?

I get the same problem like you.
Solution (i think):
Start VDJ without the rmx plugged
Select the internal sound card
Exit VDJ
Plug the rmx and check with the hercules control panel that it's working
wait for a few seconds
Start VDJ again and now select your rmx as your sound card
I was getting this problem when i plug in first time the rmx in the left usb, and later plug it in the right usb.
Maybe the hercules control panel think that you have 2 rmx connected.
Now i'm working fine.

If I unplug my RMX Console VDJ tells me Error in the sound driver and after that the normal protection error... :-(

try restarting the mac with the rmx plugged.
If not, reinstall VDJ or uninstall it and install again.
I have tested and i get the same error, but if i unplug the rmx and start vdj i don't get the error.

Found this help here...and it worked brilliant... ;-)
As a registered user if it still says protection error , please delete the preferences file.
yourcomputer/users/youname/libary/preferences
its called com.atomixproductions.virtualdj.plist
Then run VDJ again and all will be fine.
Protection errors stem from having the old betas installed it is a piracy prevention system.
