Topic: USB Soundcard Vs Numark DJ|IO

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey All,

Ive recently purchased a Numark Total Control, and find it works well. However after a while, i find i get static noise when turning dials or using the faders, which i have to fix by increasing latency etc in VDJ 5.0.

My question is, i am using my internal soundcard as the main output and a cheap USB soundcard for my headphones. Would using the DJ|io provide better performance and use fewer system resources whilst still providing quality sound? Has anyone upgraded and found a difference? What are the other options?

My current specs are Dell Inspiron 1720 - 2g ram and decent dual core intell proc (i.e cant remember!).

Cheers

Of course it will be better, DJ/IO is a good sound card.

The DJio is specifically designed for this and would perform very well, while a cheap usb soundcard is not and would have a higher latency as its just meant for general use.

I bought a DJIO to get rid of the static sound from the speakers but still the annoying sound won't go away while the battery charger is plugged in. Remove the charger and no static but the battery life of my laptop is not good. Can someone help me with this issue.
A very new member in this field.

You have a grounding problem, it's easily solved. You need a ground loop isolator. Get one from Here, if you are in the US.

What does your setup consist of? If you want the cleanest sound, you should consider finding and eliminating the loop, as opposed to filtering it. Often, cheap equipment can be the source....

Im using VDJ5.0.6 and Total Control. But I have problem is
There some noise ( distortion) appear while playing a track (good quality). Especially, when using faders.
I using USB soundcard Creative Xmod for Master, and latop soundcard for headphone. Im sure the Xmod very good ( i mean its not broken or a old one).
