Topic: Must Shut Down Error when clicking video button [SOLVED]

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have a Shuttle PC using xp pro, 256 dedicated nVidea video card ; 2 gB ram, 500 gB internal HD.
I have never had a problem doing videos with this machine until this has happened.

After a few videos have played (may be two or three, or even up to 8 or 10), then I go to click on the video tab on the skin that
de-activates the video, this is when I get the "VDJ must shut down" error?

My laptop with a shared video card at 1gB ram never does this?

Whattya think is going on, anybody else experience this?

I use VDJ4.3 with default pro: 1024 x 728 skin on both machines?

Bryant out of curiousity why would you want to disable the video panel mid gig. That is somethin I personally wouldnt do, but I dont think it should be crashing. I dont have an answer for ya though:)

Yes, I also run a Karaoke program during a karaoke show, however, I use VDJ4.3 for videos and music early in the show,
then every other 1/2 hour or so, I switch to Karaoke, but that specific program requires priority over the second monitor and will NOT run unless video in VDJ is deactivated. The shuttle started doing this recently for some reason.

Anybody got any ideas?

You could try running the 2nd output in windowed mode.

I think when you do that you end up getting the video on the primaryscreen, but NOTthe secondary, and you would still have to de-activate the video afterwards.

Anyone else? Skyfxl??

Here is the last two lines on the crashguard text, I assume the crashes are added to the bottom of the text each time. If that is the case then
the last two or three crashes are the ones I am concerned with, although prior ones are most likely the same cause. Any help here will be appreciated. Funny thing, it hasn't happened the last two nights?

Also, how is the date code interpreted?

From skyfxl "what does event viewer have logged for this event ?"

The Event Viewer shows the application as Virtual DJ4.3 causing an application error,
Do you also need all the other stuff "event type" for example, to figure this out or is the crashguard stuff enough?

It seems to be a crash in a plugin. I guess a video plugin. Which ones are you using? ShowCover ?

Great, the clue is that in the event viewer, one of the crashes, indicated it was slideshow (good).
This is the new slideshow plugin that a member introduced a few months ago that took care the
pictures being expanded to fit the screen. I usually keep it in the place where it says "use this plugin for audio files only".
and that box is always checked. Is there a work around here, is that new plugin a real bear on crashes? Any other problems with this plugin?

Do you need to see the dll files, I think there were two mentioned on the event viewer.
One error said slideshow, the other event view error only said VDJ.exe.

I guess this plugin has a problem with its timer. You should write it in the plugins forum.

The two dll files that came up in the event viewer might be worth taking a look at.

Slideshow.dll was version 1.0.0.0 0X00001ea8

and;

faulting ntdll.dll 5.1.2600.2180 0X00018fea

Does this tell us even more about what went on?
