Topic: Hercules rmx performances setup - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Hi Chaps,
Took delivery of the new rmx console today , however having a few teething probs with the sound.
Everytime a button is pressed or a knob tweaked I keep getting a "pop" . Is there a recommended performances setup for the rmx that will elliminate this issue ?

Cheers

Nice mate, I thought there would be teething problems.

You might have to have a play around with the settings as this is a whole new console, and it could be anything. I think you will have to experiment with it.

BTW, other than your little problem, how is the RMX

Try different latency settings, also experiment with safe mode and overclock and such. Your the first posted as having it..now we get to run to you for advice...not the other way around...lol...have fun with it.

I'ts looking good jimmy , a little overpriced though for something which I how now found to be essentially a Behringer BCD3000 but with full compatability with VDJ.
Had nightmare getting VDJ to recognise it initially , had to uninstall 5.07 , installl the bundled vdj LE console edition then reinstall 5.07.
Just need to sort out the sound issues but like you say I will just have to experiment with different settings, sure I'll eventually find a cure.

I will let you guys know when I have found the correct settings............I aint sleeping tonight till I do........not having laid out that kind of money !!!

ps. also when i try to register the software in my profile it keeps telling me the serial number is invalid.

Cheers

Cool mate, I'll be getting one soon, when everybody has sussed it out...hehe

My advice with the pops is try playing around with the Latency of the unit. Might need to increase it to get rid if them.

I am not sure what driver's shipped with the unit. But, Hercules just release new drivers last week [2008-03-21] for their entire console collection. So, the drivers that shipped with the RMX may not be the latest. -- http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=2&fid=28&pid=215&cid=1

Also, in the performance tab I would suggest always use Auto for the Latency drop-down. Do not check the Safemode or Overclock.

Let us know how things go...

I have found a stable setting , which sounds good through preview and home speakers also, will know more Saturday when I use it on one of the rigs.
Here are the settings :
In "performance Settings"
Set the Fastest to Best Quality bar to one notch below Best Quality
Set Latency to auto
Leave both Safe Mode and Overclock unchecked
Set Scratch to Optimise for Latency, check Enhanced Algorithm and Filter Smooth
Low Pass Filter should be checked
Leave Filter Smooth unchecked
Master Tempo is set to Advanced however I left complexity and Spacialisation both to zero

In "remix control panel" (found in windows taskbar)
I set the Audio to AISO mode at 44100Hz sample rate,16-bit Sample Size and 960 (21 ms) Buffer Size.

I downloaded the latest drivers for hercules, but had to also install the bundled LE version of VDJ over the top of 5.07 pro to get the software to recognise the controller.

Hope this is of some use guys, will keep you updated if I come across anything else

Good job!....glad you got it sorted out...and even more happy you posted your settings here......

no probs

cheers

I have just discovered that when playing karaoke files the pops and crackles re-appear , the way to eliminate this is in the performances setup check the overclock option and set the slider to "fastest" then all should be good. All other settings are the same as i previously posted.

Now all is sorted , I have to say that the rmx really is the daddy of all controllers, it's the "muts nuts" , it takes VDJ to the next level !, my advice to anyone thinking of gettting one is ....................STOP THINKING AND JUST BUY ONE !!!!

Cheers

When you change the slider in the Performance tab - please make sure you re-adjust the Latency drop-down to AUTO

Mine's on order, due tomorrow. Cant wait to try it out now.
However I've a question for any of the teamers out there, I'm currently using a BCD3000 (with moramax's superb mapper) and have bought the RMX to plug both units in and use with a multi instance skin for 4 decks. Any anticipated problems with this, and what would be the best multi instance skin to use? I'm on a laptop so 1280x800 is as high as I can go resolution wise.

Out of interest, when you uninstalled VDJ to install the LE version, and then reinstalled 5.0.7 over the top, did you have to backup your database or did the installs etc leave it intact?

Hammer

The VirtualDJ installer or uninstaller will never mess with the XML database. The installer/uninstaller does not even know that the files exist.

Cheers Cstoll

I'd already performed the upgrade anyway, I took a back copy of the DB's jsut in case but as you say it didn't mess with them anyway.

frank699,

A latency of 21ms is not the best one can achieve with DJ Console Rmx: have you tried an ASIO setting for the console of 48KHz, 16-bit, 7ms?
I don't know why, but with DJ Console Rmx + VDJ 5 DJC Edition, I get a much better latency on my laptop in 48KHz than in 44.1KHz.

I have tested a lot the RMX in WDM 4.1 and it works perfect, ASIO is necessary only if we wont to use the external inputs

Hammer,
sorry for the late reply , the uninstall and reinstall did not effect my database.
