Topic: Weird when I connect to TV

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I took my laptop (NVidia 8700) and tested it with VDJ - but before I could even get close to using VDJ, a problem arose:

I have a VGA -> Component video cable and I plug it into the TV - the picture comes out scrambled, horizontally. Does anyone know how to turn on the scaling for the 8700? I have the latest drivers, and I'm quite confused - I literally try to just clone my desktop and it freaks out.

8700? I take it this is an integrated graphics card?

Try different connections types if you can. I had similar issues with my 7600gt and ended up using the svideo connection to the TV. Speaking of the TV, the newer the TV, the less problems you'll have too.

Also, the obvious...and i'm sure you already know this, but make sure you're TV is jacked up to your card before you turn on your lappie.

Good luck...and keep spinnin...(",)

Poop...

You will need to use the S-video output as mentioned above.

I have same w/ 7600GS. Even when connecting the supplied SVIDEO to my big screen, I get the BIOS and XP loader in B&W. Once XP loads, the screen goes blank.

Are connecting the wire to laptop and TV first then turning on the computer?
