Topic: VirtualVinyl with CDJ 800 mk2 and about CUE points..

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm using VirtualVinyl with Pioneer CDJ 800 mk2 CD-players and now just thinking that is there any change use CUE points (like normal CD-player) or do i need to use CDJ 800 mk2 CD-players like vinyl player without CUE points, etc?

I know maybe this question sounds stupid or funny, but my english is very bad, so please forgive me. ;)

"This is my own opinion"
CDJ 800 is not a midi controler. You can cue on the timecode of the cdj but the cue will not be seen in virtual dj screen but will still work. However I would advice you to use the cue on virtual dj because when you use the cdj one it will always tend to change by afew seconds every time you press it on the cdj800.I use my cdj with maya usb soundcard.
I bought cdj800 because I thought it was going to act as proper midi the way i want it to react to virtual dj.Even when you use the loops on the cdj800, they will always be afew second behind the point that you pressed.
I only use the cdj800 to act as vinyl control in smart mode but use numark total control to control everything else.
To me, if money is a major factor it would be better to use vinyl than buy cdj800's.The only advantage that I can think of the 800's to vinyl is that you can burn timecode cd's as mp3 and can have more than 40 timecode tracks on one 80 min cd.

Have you tried different modes? such as absolute smart or relative?

honestly if you want to use the cdj800 as a normal cd player with vdj, you have to use absolute, and you can cue up tracks, but then again henry is right, wit the 800s there is a lil lag as in when i tried it on my previously own 800s, the cue would be off by a few secods or late a few seconds,

i woudl recommend either investing in the cdj1000mk3's, or a pair of good vinyl turntables such as the technics, or vestax,

hope this helps,

also, in smart and relative you have more control with the song with the vdj program then you do with the players, but again its up to what your willing to spend,

You will use the CDJ 800 like a turntable. You can cue a song song by turning the wheel on the cdj and pushing the cue button, but that will only cue that song temporarly. To cue songs so that everytime you play the same song using virtual dj, you have to mark it in one of the cue points by moving your mouse and click on the X in cue 1. To play a song from the start of the cue piont, you have to change the setting to " smart ". Once you have it cue up, to go back to the cue point you move the mouse over to the arrow next to the X where you have it cue up. If you want the song or each song to play from the begining, you keep it in relative. This means that on the cdjs, when you push the left track search button (from the side that your music is playing from) to play the timecoded cd. The song will start from the begging. Every time when you play a different track, you push the track search button back so the time coded cd play from the begginig like you picking up the needle on a turntable and bring it back to the start.

The CDJ 800MK2 dont have Hot starts like the CDJ1000s The 800mk2 scratch like mk3s and have the same scratch wheel with the display inside the wheel too. They dont have the effects from the MK3s or play mp3s. These features are only good if you play audio cds only. This doesnt matter if you use virtual dj. With virtual dj, you can cue , loop or hot. You do it all on the laptop.

how to use my cdj800 mk2 to time code into vdj8 , please help

This thread was for VDJ 7 and is quite old. Home users can't use controllers.
