I have a Trigger finger.. is it possible to hook it up to play samples?

I have a trigger finger as well, and I can tell you that it works wonders on my mixes when the pads are set to hotcue points. I have the left 8 pads set to 8 hotcues on the left deck, and vise versa.
The hotcues are set as one preset on the trigger finger. I also created another preset with different notes on each pad that i have assigned to the sampler. Here's my issue with sampler mappings: I can only get the pads to RESTART the loop that I am playing (stutter it), but I can't seem to get the midi notes to TRIGGER the samples. The only way I've figured out how to do this is with the volume fader, and this involves lowering the volume to zero, then bringing it back up.
Can anyone help with this problem?
