wow.. usually when a dj is visiting and takes a look in our booth their jaws just drop to the floor and they say things like "wow!, really?!, you're kidding!, NO SH*T?!!" and "what is the website and how much?".
but never had one say that we were cheating
next thing you know someone's gonna accuse you of being a "microwave dj"

What was that guys problem?! He was upset because you're using digital audio files as opposed to cd's? Or were you playing/mixing videos and that's what really made him jealous?
Maybe he was just venting because of all of the above on top of the fact that he got his antiquated cd's stolen.
Regardless, what a loser!

What pisses me off is that people (usually other djs) think that this software is freeware that you can just download off some crappy website. And they they tell you, "you should try serato, its profesional dj software" when they have never seen the stuff vdj can do.

think that pisses you off?
you know how many times i've heard "Oh yeah i have that program - i got it off of limewiere." way too many times.
there oughta be a law or something.
sad thing is that when i tell them they're missing out and need to pay for pro version, they tell me it's "not that great" or "costs too much". and when you try to tell them that if they had pro version they would get so much more out of it they just dont believe.

a while ago a guy came to look into the dj booth and told me i was using old technology, he had version 6, and we were still at 4r2. i think he noticed he was being a dikfor when i laughed in his face. lol
And yeah, some people have told me that, "why did you pay for it? you can get it for free of limewire". And my answer is always, "because im a professional not a cheap mother%^*#$%!"

Most of the time now I get a look of curiosity. Then they watch the video show.
It's commonplace now in nightclubs in Edmonton to see a computer - customers have grown accoustomed to it.
I only get flack from guys who either are stubbourn about new technoology - or are cheap assed losers who use videos and songs from limewire.

I think some times people make these remarks due to a fear.
They fear that DJing is heading out of their comfort zone, but really they shouldn't.
This world is big enough for all kinds of DJs.
The equipment you use is merely your choice of tool, the end product is what is important.
If i had people building a house for me, i wouldnt care which tools they had used, i would only care about the quality of the final product.

well way back when records was the only thing to use and then cds came along i was called a cheat for using cds, so i always jsut say i use the best that technology has to offer, and VDJ is best there is and ever will be !!!!

I had two DJs stop by my booth wondering "IS THAT VIRTUALDJ?". They checked it out.
Of course I run videos so VDJ looks WAY more impressive when you have videos running on it. Any putz can go out and get VDJ illegally. But its the real DJs who also have the videos to go along with the legit copy of VDJ that look good. :D

I'll admit, I started using VDJ with a cracked copy. But once I realized just how excellent the software is and how great most of the people are on the forum, I bought it. I haven't looked back since. Since then I've gotten three other people to buy it, and they don't regret it.

i've lost track of the number of people who have come in my booth and flat out told me they have it on their computer at home and that it's a crack or pirated. i've even had other club dj's come in and say they have it but "cant use it much cause its got problems" and i tell them.. "well duh... you're using a cracked version! upgrade and you'll fall completly in love with it!"
i'm sure the dev team has thought of ways to stop it (a couple lines of code...) but they have to use LEGAL ways or they become like them...

Any real professional would never go with crack in front of people ;)
If they think I use crack version too, I tell them to do a search in Google for "DJ ALF" and they will see who I am at the first result :)) > My Blog!

i dunno, had to call a plumber a couple months ago. there was plenty of crack involved...
oh.. wait. wrong crack...VERY wrong.
and last night yet another "visiting" dj (broke-and-out-of-work-so-she's-buying-the-beer dj) came in and got to listen to my patented sales pitch about VDJ. he had never heard of it before. and "says" he doesnt own a computer. is there really any dj out there that doesnt own a computer? wierd.

Isn't it interesting there's so many Out-of-work-"DJ's?"
If they're so good - why do they not have a gig?
There's so much mobile work here it's crazy.
Clubs come and go - but they always seem to have "new and Improved" dj's at them

ah but this one has a backstory.. i know why he's out of work - http://www.kxxv.com/Global/story.asp?s=7171956
that club closed less than a week after that story broke. and trouble just follows this twit around - two weeks later a shootout in front of the comedy club he was working at with his friends involved.
and while there is mobile work to be had in our area, too many of the dj's around here let themselves get known for specific genres and find out that the rednecks arent going to hire the homeboy to play george strait and that archibald witherspoon the IV is not gonna hire just anyone for Muffy's wedding/sweet sixteen/baby shower. besides that, mobile dj's around here dont get paid diddly. the real money is in the clubs.. well.. mine anyway. we got the staying power.
and for my moment of OH MY GOD I'M GETTING OLD!!!: the daughter of a regular who had moved a few years ago stopped in last night. i hadnt seen her since she was 8-9 years old and her mom had been babysitting my son one night. she was taller than me and i felt like a dirty old man for looking at how short her skirt was and thinking... well never mind what i was thinking.. but dammit i could feel another freakin gray hair fly in place.
