First off let me tell you that I like the new interface. I think that the developers should all should be commended on a job well done. But I have to agree that I miss the two deck automix. I have read the comments by various people that "If you are a real DJ you don't use AutoMix" well, to each his own. I like to think of my self more as an entertainer than just a DJ. People hire me to play music sure, but the mass majority hire me again and again because I get out from behind the computer and keep the party hopping. I get told quite often, that I am not like the other DJ's that they've had in the past and that is why they always want me back... It's all about matching your style to your area and to your audience.
While it will be next weekend before I can use 5.0 r4 at a gig, I can tell you that release 2 kept me chained down behind the keyboard last weekend. It stopped several times during a few songs and studdered / skipped during one. One song mixed half way into it, but since it was already playing all I could do is watch as everyone was puzzled as to why the song was half over when it started. I have a wedding to do the week after next, I will use my computer with version 4 on it for that, simply because what I do is read the crowd and stack the songs in the list to meet the need especially for the formal dance parts. At times I shuffle songs onto the inactive deck and get on the mic and lead into them with some humor. I converse with those requesting songs and work them into the mix. I interact with the crowd and sometimes go out and join into the fun. Right or wrong, that's my style and it works! Or at least it works with version 4. I only hope that Version 5.1 will bring back what 4.3 has along with all of the new great features of version 5.
But lets think a little out of the box. What about having an option for the software to mix on one deck, but have a third view of the the song in wave form showing what is coming up next. That gives me the comfort level of knowing where the mix points are going to happen and that the entire song is going to play and not get mixed half way through like I have had happen on occassion before. Oh and lets have the 2 deck option to mix like it used to. That way we can all be happy with the way we set our options. I do enjoy being able to preview a video while my music is automixing on the other deck. This is especially true when doing High School Dances where I need to watch the content. It would be nice if we could switch on the fly too by just clicking a button for one two or one deck with preview mixing.
The other nice thing about the automix was that if you did have to get right into the next song for what ever the reason, you just clicked a button.

TearEmUp,
Isn't that just selfish to disagree, Just because it works for you? Let's think about this objecitively. If it is an option it serves more people. If more people purchase it, it generates more revenue. From more revenue it only stands to reason that it will continue to develop new and better features. I am glad that it works for you. To an extent it works for me. But let's work to make it better. There are a lot of aspects that I do not use TCV for instance. But I am glad that the option exists in case I need it in the future.

I got to agree with Teary, I thought the same thing at first that I wanted it to be 2 decks, then after using it for awhile it kinda grows on ya. I agree that maybe there needs to be a display to at least show a wave form of the 2nd song, but to have a free deck is priceless. We must look at it a little differently, we as djs are paid to just that DJ not sit back and let automix take over the night. Now I use automix quite often and dont see what the big issue is here. I personally think the way it works now is 100% better than the way it did in 4.3, I got smooth transitions with my videos and much more. Please we need to stop beating a dead horse, there were more than 1 posts asking for this back and the Dev staff said it isnt gonna happen, but not to say they wont work to make it better. Instead of all the complaining state what you want it to do if it was 1 deck, do u wanna see waveforms etc??

I agree, but i think the two deck can work like this, only i can see what happens next!
I normally work with two monitors so i have still two players free....

I check out this forum everyday just so I can see those wonderful words:
2 DECK AUTOMIX IS BACK!
Till then, I am just anticipating that day.

Its not selfish, its a statement of my feelings. Isn't it selfish of you to disavow my considered professional opinion? I am a very positive person, I am positive the two deck auto play is a thing of the past. Successful companies move forward not backward. I agree with stop beating this dead horse, I for one am not wasting anymore energy on this.

This is my frist digital setup... i had the opertunity to jump right into V5 when i was ready.
PERSONALY, I like the single deck auto mix. Reason being is I only use the automix for cocktail/dinner music. With the automix being a single deck, it plays more like my traditinoal CD players I was used to. Right deck can have the cocktail muisc while I got to cue up the left deck for the introduction songs.
For my sytle of djing, I couldn't ask for anything else.

God bless the moderators for having to deal with this topic. Lord knows I have contributed to just about every thread :-( Shame on me.
Its pretty obvious that a large segment of the subscription base wants 2 deck automix back. It is also obvious that a lot of people like the 1 deck automix. I personally think the option for both is the most versatile solution.
I think the development team, moderators, and everyone else has heard this loud and clear. VDJ has never let us down before and always responded to and exceeded our requests/needs. I am confident they will again.
I have been one of the loudest about this subject and I think it is time for us all to settle back. Let the developers do their work, and trust the result. These revisions/versions are not written overnight. Lets all give them some time now.
Vin.

Thanks Vin for that.
.. as I posted in one of the 'other threads'. Your voice has been heard about the OLD vs NEW. If you wish to provide suggestions on how to make the NEW fit your needs, then GREAT! would love to see those ideas posted. However, the OLD way being beat'n and beat'n, over and over... well, just over the top.
Also, as Vin pointed out the changes don't happen overnight. Patience until the next update and your opinions have be duly noted.

Here's my vote for bringing back 2 deck automix...
Even better would be, as I said in the other thread, to be able to toggle between one and two deck mixing.
If the code is already written why would this be such a difficult thing? I had no problems with the 2 deck automixing
in 4.3 or even 3.4.
VDJ has always be chalk full of options why can't this be one of them?
