Whats the advantage of the Denon over the Dac 3?

Advantages:

  • Text displays.

  • Touch-sensitive jogwheels.

  • Build-in sound card.

  • Better build quality.

Disadvantages:

  • No native support yet (MIDI only, so no working displays, LED's, etc.) - Hopefully native support will be added soon.

  • No custom mapper yet (That will change when I can get my hands on one!)

  • Needs drivers for soundcard and probably it's USB MIDI interface. DAC-3 is USB HID and plug 'n' play.

  • Needs power supply (DAC-3 is USB bus powered.)

jpboggis, maybe you`re wrong!, In Denon`s manual says that it doesnt need drivers.

It needs external power because need to feed the display, lots of light buttons, the sound card, and many other things that not all the PC`s/notebooks will have enough curent in their USB ports to feed the unit.

Hope I dont bite any sour apples here, but I'd rather get the Denon.

Even PCDJ (maker of DAC) are promoting the Denon as a better product, and partnered with that controller for their comming Reflex release

The HC4500 is also plug & play, drivers auto-install once connected.
The only driver is ASIO for Win.
OSX Core Audio does no require a sound driver, just configure.
