After finally loading 5.0 and using it live for a full show on Saturday I have a few observations....
I'll do the positives first........1st) Props to Dj Format the vmix 5.0 skin absolutely rocks.....2nd) no crashes, only minor studdering when loading some large files (I really need faster video card though)....3rd) the proper id3 tag reading is a very very very welcome feature..)....4th the videos seem to load slightly faster
Now the negatives....1st) Still no way to get info from video file names into the proper columns (the whole file name still shows up in the "title" column.......2nd) The sound seems more distorted (didn't change anything except loading the program so I know it's not a hardware issue)....3rd) Couldn't get sonigue plug-in to work (maybe I am doing something wrong or put it in the wrong place but it always worked in 4.x).....4th) BPM scanner is still far less accurate then PCDJ FX or mixmeister, even on some seemingly simple songs (some glaring exapmles - billie jean at 77, Beyonce Naughty girl at 123, doesn't even read outkast the way you move) and of course for some reason it still reads all the 140-180bpm punk songs as 70-90bpm but it reads the 70-90 bpm rap at 140-180bpm...go figure. The 1/2 and 2x beats I don't mind, but searching out and correcting the ones with just plain off bpoms is a HUGE pain when it is about 20% of your library.
Don't know if this is good or bad (depends on your perspective I guess).....1st) when you set it to loop from a cue point it does not loop correctly (example, in Rob Base "it takes two" I cued past the "hit it" and set the cue point on the actual 1st beat. When I selected to start with an 8 beat loop to stretch the intro it did not count 8 beats from where I cued it to give me a nice clean intrumental instead it added the "hit it" from the beginning as the 7th and 8th beat of each loop. While this would be a cool loop if that is what I wanted, I really wanted just an 8 beat looped instrumental to do my mix and a vocal over it and I kept getting "hit it" in the background over and over......anybody else noticed this?

VDJ completly rock though compared to anything else out there so keep fighting the good fight....and thanks for listening to us on wanted features and corrections

text 2d works great
in the last week i've started using Vdj as my main software ,
5.0 is a big upgrade in many ways ......i use vmix also it's tremendous , the only thing i wish for for vmix if it were resizable ......it has great looking "views " of feature sets out the ying yang ........it's pertier than most the strippers i know , but much more reliable ......
Format and Mykel should be co employees of the month ,i think
i keep wishing for features that spoil you that i've enjoyed in Traktor ...... i would like a "return to the last search button " and a dropdown menu that has the last 5 or 10 searches ..... highlight one and click to return to those search results ...... right click to add trax to deck a or deck b ( eliminates drag and drop ) i would like a context menu for the file operations that works no matter where the track is ...... i would like the virtual folders to arrange themselves alphabetically
and of course the 2 deck automix would be great
the cover flow is kinda a waste cuz pro's look at it and are unimpressed and the hapless civilians look at it and say ohyeah my computer does that....... it would be neat if the covers could go in the slideshow ???

This is how your video files should be named:
Rob Bass - It Takes Two.vob (or whatever extension it is)
Then they will be organized by artist/title and not in one column.

looking at the post he must be using the old text pluggin, i think he must be still at work or something, normally when you put up a post your hangin' about waiting for an answer, anyway agree with all of the above for those extra features, i did mention in the wish list forums back in march or feb if the dev team would take a look at the way mixmeister had their browser set up, for me its got to be one of the best for navigating about, does exactly what you mentioned and is a dream to work with, not that i'm slagging off vdj it just shows everyone and everything is in a constant state of development and hopefully we might get these little improvemnts in the not to distant future, i've getting used to just the one window now but would like to see sort of time remaining box in automix mode just so i know how long i've got to chat at the bar instead of doing a quick reccy of the songs left, i'm to damn lazy, as for the covers i switch them off also...

tayla.........Yes I did get sonique working (forgot they moved the transition/effects folders to my documents.............The program has just barely been stable for me in version 4.3 (crashed once in awhile...always keep my most recent mix cd cued up though while rebooting) so I haven't really played with the effects and stuff as I was afraid it would overtax it.............. I did download a bunch of them tonight and will try to get some of them going (like text2d) before the weekend but probably will more likely explore the clip-bank workings for this week, got to get this smoothed out before I do vegas on the 29th............

Boy do we run in the same circles, I was spinning at Ra here in Corona for a while, then the hired some hip hop dj had some troube and messed it all up, now they won't hire dj's there anymore. What's the address, I'll try to make it by. I may come up Friday night, are you at Polly's on Friday?
