Do I need to keep the record button pressed, should I be looping the track? how does the sampler work when sampling from an MP3 playing on either deck?

First be sure thet the deck u want to sample is selected, select the loop length you want (2....64) hit record once on the sampler slot U want and the sample gets recorded for the loop length. Activate the sampler to play the loop.

If you have downloaded and installed the v5.0Rev2 of VirtualDJ - then the Full User Guide is in your My Documents ->VirtualDJ folder. Go to the Section that talks about the Sampler - it is explained there as well. Loop control deck controls explained on page 24. Recording loop samples explained on page 44.
