Hi -
So far, this pup rocks. However, cannot play videos. I get a brief flash of a vid and nothing. Just goes to the logo in bottom corner.
Tried different vids from AVI/MPG/MPEG/VOB/DIVX and even changed the codec to WMP.
All these vids play in WMP just fine.
Same vids played in 4.x but not 5.
I'm stumped.

Please don't keep reposting the same issue -- you mentioned this in another thread didn't you?
Posted Thu 23 Aug 07 @ 6:12 am
Yes, I did. I thought it would get more exposure if it had it's own thread vs hijack.
Surely I cannot be the only one who seen this. At least I'm not asking silly questions clearly covered in the new guide and talking smack. :)

what video card do you use?
Posted Thu 23 Aug 07 @ 4:14 pm
System A is an internal Intel 865gvm based (memory is failing here) and system B is a Compaq mini system. Not sure if integrated.
Was the video portion completely rewritten? 4.x did not have these issues.
In otherwords, do I HAVE to use a blessed card for ANY video to show up? I sure hope not...
Thanks!

Video works for me on an integrated card. Have you tried moving the crossfader to the deck that your playing, maybe a overlay or something is on and blocking it. Do you have vdj set to default window mode?

Yup - did that.
Did that as well.
I get a brief flash of video and then nothing.
I just did a fresh install on a 3rd PC. This was a fresh XP install a few months ago. I changed NOTHING in the config except for codec (after trying w/ defaults).
Same thing. Intel 82865G integrated AGP card.
Ok - did I get a bum file? Was there a 2nd new 5 uploaded?

Not that I've read. I'd create a support ticket if I were you.

I just installed 4.3 in it's own folder. Made no config settings. Video worked - several in fact.
Went back to 5.0 - same as before. Did this on two machines.
Augggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg. :)
I put a ticket in.
To recap - 5.0 won't play vids no matter what machine - yet 4.3 does w/o incident.

Try adding your video folder inside VirtualDJ (dont drag and drop from Windows Explorer)
At the video folder, in VDJ, righ-click and choose "add to search database"
does the files show video now ?

ah, i wasnt dragging from explorer, but i just tryed that, and video / karaoke worked straight away..
what im doing is i click on desktop in virual Dj, and i type in search > mpg
then i should see all the mpg files?
i find one, and drag to player from virtual dj search, and only audio plays.
but as above, if i right click and make VDJ go to the files folder, then drag the file up to player, it works

That works.......
Why could that not be in a FAQ?
Anyway, seems like a BUG to me. Sometimes it is not convenient to use the built in browser.
But at least I know the strategy to make it work.
Thanks gang!

Please do this ---
Make sure you are only showing videos -- click on the second dot to the right of the search box and only have the 'Show Videos' checked.
Type in the Search box an asterisk *
Select 1 time in your file list highlighting a file and then select Ctrl-A on the keyboard
Right click on the highlighted files and choose 'Add to Search DB'
Close and re-open VDJ -- do your videos play now without having to use the Go to Folder option?

surely i should be able to see my files as video by just typing * ???
is this really a bug?
i could get around this (it seams) by creating a 'Last played in 40 days' filter.
this list DOES show and play video files.
so maybe the simple method has a bug :)

Do this -- go through the process - Desktop -> to your hard drive and right click on them and choose 'Set as Favorite'
Now you will have a favorite for each one.
Now right click on each favorite and choose the 'Add to Search DB' for each one.
Close VDJ and reopen.
Go to Config -> Browser Tab and select each drive from the drop-down (in the bottom section) and do a Check, Clean, Fix in that order for each drive listed in the drop-down.
Now close the config and do the * in the search box...

Now I think understand your issue... go to the second dot to the right of the search box click on it what options are checked? Is Show Video and Show Karaoke checked?
