where did the master tempo go on 5.0?

What do you mean? In the TCV Setup?
 
yep...i thought maybe u guys moved it...but can't find it.

please don't say keylock....because those are two totally different things.
 
It's a keyboard shortcut action. Not sure why it was removed from the setup. Apopsis or DevTeam might be able to explain. Sorry I can't.

They are the same thing? Check your registry when you take off keylock, it affects the MasterTempo variable.

NOT exactly the same but related, it's the same algorithm.
There are 2 separate actions (shortcuts/skin commands):
Key_lock and master_tempo
In the default skin there is only "keylock" but you can edit the skin to make it master tempo.
Also you can add a master tempo shortcut, like i do.
MT is removed from the TC setup because there is absolutely no reason to have 2 different master tempo, it's one global as it should.
 
Is Master Tempo better? I'm using V Mix 5.3, never checked what method that's using. I've noticed that you need to have the pitch set at 0% when you press the padlock, otherwise the key will be locked at whatever pitch you have the deck set to. Does Master Tempo always apply itself as if the deck were at 0%?

Thats exactly what it does.

MASTER TEMPO = PITCH LOCK (key of song) AT ZERO %

KEY LOCK = PITCH LOCK (key of song) TO ANY %



 
I had a feeling that's how it worked, thanks for the reply. There is a bug with it though, checkout my post in the bugs forum.
 
Master tempo is the "classic" way (Pioneer etc), Keylock is the Numark way.
Use whatever suits better your needs..
Personally i barely use them i grow up with turntables, but i feel more comfortable with the master tempo.
The way i use it is advanced, i enable it only for seconds for the mix (if needed) and then i reset both pitch and master tempo in a way that nobody notice it.
You can feel a slightly speed correction but not any pitch difference.
You can do wonders with the shortcuts in virtualdj.
 
that numark way would drive me crazy. I guess it would of helped if i read the manual. I never liked it...the reason being is because when i enabled it I guess I always enabled it @ every pitch except zero. I tried it today & was happy with it. It just sucks you have to enable it @ 0%. but better then going into the pref.
 
It does have the small advantage of being able to turn it on/off without affecting the current pitch of the track though which can be handy, especially if you don't work with it on all the time...
 
u mean if its @ +3 pitch with keylock off....then u enable it...ur saying it won't change the key.? kind of like the pioneer method?
 
Thats certainly what mine did on v4 with my DAC-3; if I hit MT on the controller (using the boggis mapper) it would lock at whatever pitch it was at at the time.

It's been that long since I've used my CMX-3000 that I can't remember exactly how the Pioneers work :o
 
well mt would be master tempo not keylock. not the same thing
 
The MT button of the DAC-3 does keylock in VDJ 4.x and later with my mapper.

Guys ... stop a second and listen

MASTER TEMPO and KEY LOCK is THE SAME THING, with ONE distinction :

- MASTER TEMPO locks the key of the song at ZERO % pitch, and then you can adjust the speed of the song with the pitch keeping key intact.

- KEY LOCK locks the key of the song at ANY % pitch (where you choose), and then you can adust the speed with pitch slider, and keep the key where you locked.




In other words KEY LOCK is a master tempo where you can choose where to lock the key, unlike normal master tempo where you are limited to keylocking at zero % pitch
