This problem existed in v4 as well. VirtualDJ doesn't give a proper pitch readout beyond about +/-12% if you move the pitch slider too quickly for its liking. Beyond about 20% the reading is absolutely useless, it just doesn't track. The loaded song will play at near enough the correct tempo of the deck, e.g. +20% (most of the time) but the readout of VirtualDJ is way off. As a result of this, the bpm reading is also way out and the key lock simply does not work. The easiest way to reproduce this is to set your deck at +20% and then do a needle drop, VirtualDJ reports +0.5% pitch, a bpm which is 1.005x the original and applies a pitch adjustment of 0.5%. I know this isn't a limitation of how the vinyl is read, because djDecks handles this fine.
In smart mode, once this happens, unless you manually align the pitch slider on your deck to 0% and in VirtualDJ's skin to 0%, the deck pitch slider gives you completely nonsense results. Absolute mode is ok, but suffers with the pitch problem.
