A picture of the VirtualDJ Timecode setup would be good, this way we can see how the software is reading the sine waves from the timecode signal.

ok .. hope this helps

standard default

auto con fig

some tweeking

auto config

Asio config

and the time code looks like that in 4.3 & 5.0

I don't have experience with cd decks and virtualdj, so bare with me a little bit, but if this were a vinyl problem it would look like you have the deck set to output in line but then applied a phono pre-amp which isn't needed. Make sure that your soundcard (BCD2000) is set to line and not phono. There is usually a switch nearby to the phono connectors.

You see this switch which says phono/line, above channel B's connectors? Whatever you have it currently set at, do the opposite. I think the picture is saying for line input the button needs to be depressed.

@Andrew87

Very observant, in the pictures I posted it was in channel A phono.

However I have had it in channel B with & without the line set ... with the line set the time code looks a bit different .... but it still comes up as 0% quality and dies in 12 min. I will post screen shots of that if you think it would be helpful.

If the signal looks curved rather than square, the screenshots would definitely be very helpful :-)

Dang .. I don't remember what it looks like.

Ill try an get some pics of it up tonight after my gig (I don't want to set time code up again before my gig)

Is there any other screen shots that would be helpful while im at it ?

The VirtualDJ signal screens should be good enough. The problem seems that the signal the program is getting has been severely clipped. I would say this is either because the signal being fed to the BCD2000 is too loud (remember to use the -13dB timecode signal only, i.e. the prograde signal now available from this site), or the BCD2000 has applied a phono pre-amp (because it was not in line mode).

Those are the major two things I can think of, anything else I would have to say is driver related and maybe you'd have some luck with asio4all. But we'll leave that for later, if necessary.

If you could make the new screenshots a little bigger it would be appreciated, 640x480 would be good.

Hey, any luck with this?

I didn't have a chance to get to it last night after my gig (I was dead tired and passed out)

I will have the pictures up tonight once I get home an set everything up ... just another 40 min and I get off of work :) (the real job not the fun one)

Thanks for checking in on me mate

Ok .. sorry it took so long to get this up .. been a crazy busy weekend.

What do you make of that ?

There's both good news in these screenshots, but also bad news. The inputs are now curved which is good as there isn't any clipping occuring. However, the pictures show that something is wrong with one of the channels, I don't know if it's left or right. Whichever the red line in VirtualDJ represents. You can see that the volume is clearly two times the volume of the green input. This could be a connection fault, but I would almost certainly think it's due to the timecode signal you downloaded only having the -13dB gain fix applied to one channel!

Update ...

I got my time code working 100% finally .. w00t !!! :)

But I lost my headphones in the process ... boooo :(

I had to select the Asio 4 all driver configuration .. and check "force WDM driver to 16 bit" on the out channel ... it was already selected on the in channel. ... but once I did this .. I lost headphone use.

So that was the "fix" ... but its really no use to me if I cant use my headphones.

Anyone smarter then me have a fix ?

*bump*

**** UPDATE ****

I finally got Time code & my headphones to work at the same time with the BCD 2000.

in the ASIO4ALL v2 driver I enabled my laptop sound card and forced all headphone sounds threw it... I will need to pick up some powered or amped headphones so I can hear them when im really rocking out .. .but that is minor.

Thanks everyone for the help they gave .... specifically Andrew87 you kept me at it when I was ready to buy some new gear.

Time to start learning how to transform :)
