How can I get windows media player (in vista) to quit automatically play & rip
when cd's are installed??
I have gone to the rip option and chosen never. It still keeps ripping
whenever I put a cd in the tray.
Also I do not see any option to not have media player auto start playing a cd.

I went to start, but there is no standard programs run options.
Can you give more info please?
This is annoying. I don't even want media payer to start automatically

if its not there, right click the start menu button, and choose "properties"
And check the option to show "Standard Programs"
If thats not possible, then you might have to log in as administrator (Vista have insane protection going on... )

Nope it is not there. Also I am signed as owne administrator.
I thought this should be in the actual program itself. ( Media payer)
I am really beginning to hate Vista more and more.

takes a while to get used to vista, where all things are;)
But do it the easy way then :
- Go to control pannel
- double click the "Standard Programs" icon
And set the auto run options there ;)

Okay call me crazy, but there is no Standard Programs icon.
I even tried a search for standard programs. Nothing.
Are these things hidden somewhere?

Sorry ... My bad. Think we got lost in translations here..hehe
I got Norwegian Vista, so gave you my best translation of what it would be called in English version of Vista.
But checked google to make 100% sure of the name in English, and its NOT "Standard Programs", but rather "Default programs"
Sorry about that ;)
I bet you find it both in Start pannel and Control Pannel now ;)

Viola;
A big thanks, I appreciate it.
I still think Vista hides files and it is harder to locate.
I found "roxio" in the registry, but there is no program for roxio.
Some crazy stuff.
Anyway thanks again.

roxio is in the start programs.. it's a basic version of it but it is there.

Roxio components are installed as part of multiple applications. Napster uses roxio's burning api.

in vista there is no " set program access and defaults " ?

yeah, there is... Just like XP. As explained above, use the "defaul program" icon in control pannel ;)
