Topic: Assign Line-In(mic) to the waveform

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi there,

I have two Pioneer CDJ-200 and a Numark DXM09, after had connect the record output of the mixer to the mic input of my laptop, I would like to assign that mic input to the waveform of Virtual DJ to help with precision beatmatching.

Is this possible to do? If it is, how can I do it?

Thanks,
Greets from Portugal.

and if that is not possible with Virtual DJ can you please tell me other program that has this feature?

I already tried Goldwave and Spectrogram but the wave form display is not enough accurate for precision beatmatching like the one of Virtual DJ.

Hi there, yeh it's possible.

In virtual dj (in the pane on the left,) click "my computer", then click "soundcards" fromt list that drops down. The soundcards should be listed in the middle pannel, choose the one that you want to use by dragging it onto one of the decks. You should get the waveform where you would normally find it as if a song was playing. (only the left half though, because obviously it only knows the sounds that have already been made.

Hope that helps.

Don't forget to buy the software if you like it!

Thanks for the reply andytaylor125 but when I drag the soundcard to the deck nothing happens...

I'm using the version 4.2r1 Trial.

I took a screenshot: www.sobreira.net/virtualdj.jpg

Do you know what is the problem?

Thanks,
Greets.

anyone more has this problem?

I think that maybe Virtual DJ doesn't support Avance AC'97 Audio chipset...

It does support the chipset in terms of pumping audio through it. The Avance AC'97 is pretty common.

However the Avance AC'97 is a budget chipset and probably not best suited for Pro use.

So he's not the only one with this problem, anybody got any info?

Sound card is a Conexant High Definition Audio built in to my laptop (a dv9000t-series HP) running the Microsoft drivers that came with Windows Vista Ultimate x86.

Just to make sure it wasn't a problem with my line input I tried using the microphone built in to the laptop's monitor. Still no waveform. But the level indicator in Vista shows activity.

I still didn't get it to work :\

The new Virtual DJ 5 also doesn't support this soundcard input to wave form. :\

If you know another program that has this ability please tell me.

Regards.
