Hi.

Is it possible to make it so VDJ can run in fullscreen mode but on a second external monitor, rather than the main monitor?

yes the full version does this quite well.
 
You should be able to do so the same way you can fullscreen any program on an external monitor. For best results however, use a VirtualDJ skin which is the same resolution as your external monitor, e.g. 1440x900.
