Topic: Midi Controller/Mixer all in one ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Is there such a thing as a good Midi Controller & Mixer all in one ? ...

like the Numark DM950USB 2-Ch 8 DJ Mixer With USB Ports .. but with Midi capability's .. so when I move the fader on the mixer it moves on VDJ.

I'm about to change up my whole setup .. run one CDJ and one TT .. .or two hybrids ... and I want to run just a Midi mixer with maybe a sound card.

Any recommendations ?

Hercules DJ Console MK2 is just what you need.

I don't consider the Hercules a good mixer mate ... but thanks for the response... I was looking / hoping for something more like the NUO4 mixer .. but at an affordable price.

Well that is the problem, quality costs ;)
Other solution is Numark Total Control or DMC2 and Numark DJ/iO sound card.
Or you can grab 2 XP10's and some external mixer.

- Ecler Nuo4
- Ecler Nuo 5
- Pioneer DJM 800
- Korg zero 4
etc etc etc

There are quite a few REAL hardware mixers around already, that also sends MIDI commands at the same time.

Ecler Nuo4 & Pioneer DJM 800 is used by many VDJ users already

And more mixer will come ;) Rane & Numark being first two new ones I bet, maybe already at NAMM in a few weeks ;)

I am laughing so hard, because neither do I. I am also thinking about the accent that you might have, and how polite you are.

Holy hell .. yes they are real mixers .. but um .. there also REAL expensive ... I was hoping to find something in the $400 price range.

I just got two TECHNICS SL-DZ1200's and im looking for a mixer to tie them together.

Are there other things you want the midi to do? If not a standard external mixer may do just fine.

Sure there other things I would like it to do ... I would like it to function like the Hercules, BCD or some of the other midi controllers .... I love all them buttons ... but with them you still need a good mixer for the fader ...

What I don't want is separate components if I can help it ... I like the midi functions of my BCD but its a shitty mixer .. and sound card .. as is the Hercules as a mixer .. not sure about the sound card .. with ether of them the fader sucks for scratching.

Ideally my gear would be.... hooked up in this order.

1 Laptop
1 USB sound card
1 Midi Mixer (that works well with VDJ for a reasonable price)
2 Turntables

My current set up
1 Laptop
1 Midi controller / sound card / mixer (BCD 2000)
2 turntables
1 mixer (cheap little on just for the mic.... Behringer XENYX 502)

I like this setup .. .but the all in one midi controllers are not the best sound cards .. or mixers ... lets hope that changes soon.

Hell for all I know there may not be one out there yet.

What im thinking my gear will end up being.

1 laptop
1 USB sound card (lets say the Maya or better)
1 Midi Controler (BCD, Hercules, Total Control, Vestex ect ect)
1 Real mixer ( Denon DNX500)
2 Turntables.

the Vestax VCI-100 is an interesting option, but you'll need to get a sound card alongside it.

Because the knobs would fall off.

And it will sound like Rice Krispies every time you move a fader. Don't worry, Behringer will make a copy of it, but it will not sound the same, or last as long.

I got a brand new Ecler Nuo4 on ebay for $599.
This is a kick ass mixer, it need a little better midi mapping but the audio quality is top notch.
I use it with a maya 44 and 2 DZ1200 cd turntables.
For me it's th best way for the price.

I had the herk too and think it's a toy.
I switched to a BDC2000 for my club gigs that already have some othe video dj stuff and no room for any extra gear.

From the mouth of someone that owns one. I never owned one but tried it out, and feel the same way. That's just my opinion, and does not reflex the thoughts of management.
