I cant figure out how to preview tracks. I have VDJ plugged into my vista lappy via USB. My speakers run from the headphone socket. where do I plug in Headphones so the preview track does not play through speakers? The instructions lost me!

Hehe, you have it connected slightly wrong. The headphones really do plug in to the headphone socket :-)
Your speakers connect to Output 1/2 at the back of the console. Mk2 is the abbreviation of Hercules DJ Console Mk2.

I dont have a MKII. there are no other outputs other than USB...

True true. Guy in Toys r us just told me that I can get a usb ex soundcard? Dont care about sound quality as its just for cueing tracks. Any ideas on makes.
