Now that issue is cleared up...

layrubr - change the decoder and are things better?

when i changed the decoder some of the files wouldnt even display video

Might be because you don't have all the codecs you need for the videos. You can use this program to determine what that codecs are for those that are not playing -- http://www.headbands.com/gspot/index.htm

Also, highly recommend using the codecs from the official authors and not from some of these codec-paks.

looks like i have all the codecs according to the gspot program you showed me. What else can i look for. I tried updated drives and that didn't fix anything. Would the fact that this nvidia card is directx 10 compatible and design for vista use have anything to do with it? if i used vista maybe it would fix this problem?
