Topic: help with new vista laptop and soundcard

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I know there has been much discussion on laptops and music videos. I have two fully custom pcs that I have been running for two years. I have only ever had vdj shut down once and that was last week at a wedding! Not too bad...

I am looking at getting a laptop to dj with some of my school dances. The bulkiness of the box is wearing on me and laptops are becoming cheaper and cheaper.

My options are a Mac Book Pro or the New Dell xps1330.

How does this look to you (minus nvidia problems).
XPS M1330 Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7100 (2MB cache/1.8GHz/800Mhz FSB)
Memory 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
LCD and Camera Standard Display with 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
Video Card 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS
Hard Drives 120GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
OPERATING SYSTEM(S) Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium Edition
Network Card and Modem Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
Combo or DVD+RW Drive CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
Sound Options Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition

What kind of sound card should I get that is Vista compatible?

Thanks for the help!

If you would like to see a video of some stuff I have done using vdj go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf3t0nLhTT8&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Etoybros%2Ecom%2Fschools%2Ephp

I would get something with a better video card. Aren't some of the 8000 series NVIDIA cards slower than the 7000 series GT?

Go for at least 256MB of dedicated video memory.
