invoke chkdsk on an external drive ??

Right click, Properties>Tools>Scan ;)

dbl click my computer , right click the drive you want to check , select tools , under error checking select check now

if you get an error msg and it asks if you want to restart say yes and reboot to run the check

if you get a msg that f (/f) wasn't specified it will run in read only mode which means it will run but it won't fix errors

there are several "switches" of which the f switch is one

Automatically fix file system errors. The other option takes a long time, only use it if you are experiencing unexpected data corruption or fear your drive is failing.

it's so slow i'm going backwards in time , i'm afraid , but hey , that makes you younger .........
