You should be fine. There are always ticky tacky things, I bet those are few and minor. Hope all goes well let everyone know. Peace T

Yes, when you update your laptop DO NOT let windows/microsoft update the NVIDIA driver.
Also DO NOT download the latest driver from NVIDIA.
HP modify the NVIDIA graphics card and the only driver you should use is the one from HP update. Using any other will give you crackling interference noises when you are playing live.
Also, check you IRQ settings for anything you have plugged into your front right USB port, as it can also conflict with the video card and cause VDJ skins to freeze up.

Everything went well!! :-)
I am not sure if i have the driver problem. updates are currently turned on.
but I was getting a some noise sometimes while queing a song
I am using the stock soundcard with an external mixer(L/R Split)
I thought the sound card may have been the problem.
I usually use my HDJC as the soundcard.
Planning to get a MAYA44USB, found a few on ebay.
does anyone have problems with them and vista.
Well...
it didn't happen enough for me to stop using the it but it was audioable sometimes.
no crashes, freezse or hangs. Played for 5 hours!,

Maya working fine on vista for me!
I guess the driver CD you'll get with the maya won't have the newest ones on, so just go straight to the website to get them.

I'm using Maya44usb with Vista and timecoded cd's. It all works fine. Vista drivers are available and it sounds very good.
The NVIDIA driver updates are optional updates, so just don't allow them to install. I really wouldn't ignore this as i had weeks of problems with sound that got worse.
Mine sounded like it was the sound card too, thats what myself and some VDJ people were investigating, but it is the video driver, and HP & NVIDIA have confirmed this.
Hope you are enjoying your new toy :)

Is the sound you are getting like a background crackling sound, like an old record playing?
Mainly noticable in bits of music where the beat stops and just vocals?

Are you video mixing?
Posted Tue 22 May 07 @ 5:02 am
I am not video mixing and yes that's the type of sound, sometimes it's not there at all
other times I can hear it pretty loudly for a short burst.
I can't seem to download the HP nvidia drivers
since I have only had this laptop for a few days I might do a full restore before I start loading apps.
thanks,

Sounds like the same problem i had.
You can use HP update. Just type update into your start/run window and you should see it.. Let HP update install the video driver it wants, it will probably say its an optional update.

ok I was able to download a driver directly from the HP site
tell if this is a correct working version
I won't be able to test until tonight when I can hook it up to my monitor
or go down to the club and hook up the system.
DATE: 1-13-2007
Version 7.15.10.9759
Also what changes did you make in the performance tab in virtual dj to get it to run flawlessly?

Thats looks right.
As for performance, I use mine 2 levels away from the right with safe and overclock unticked.
I also removed all th cr*p that is preinstalled by HP.
I also close down explorer and end all other tasks i don't need, like windows defender, system restore, wirelsess config, virus software etc.
I don't need mine plugged in at the club to here it crackles, i can tell using headphones plugged into the machine.
Also, get the best sized skin you can. You probably noticed there isn't much choice in our skin res (1440x900)

My headphones are crappy and the bigger plug is stuck on the end of it
so it only will work with my mixer board, i am currently at work, when i get home I will
hook it up to my mixer board and monitor,
i will let you know how it runs.

Are you using the laptop soundcard?
Posted Tue 22 May 07 @ 6:45 pm
No, i'm using Maya44usb
Posted Tue 22 May 07 @ 8:59 pm
the humming noise is gone
but I still get some spurts of noise here and there
and I think I remedied that by going up on the latency settings for the sound card.
and tuning down the setting for the master tempo. Overclock on savemode off
it seems to run very well now.
I should be able to tune things back up once i aget my maya44usb

ok I found a setting that works with my hercules
I can't seem to get it to work correct without safemode on
It will work with a latency of 1024 but scratching sounds like crap!
So to make scratching sound good and not get pops I can run 11ms overclock and safemode on
hopefully I can use the new sound and low latency with my Maya44 USB when it arrives.

Yes, or you can try ASIO drivers on MK2 to see what happens.
