cstoll,

Are you using my macbook pro santa rosa with the 2.4 processor and nvidia geforce 8600m gt card with 256mb of ram? If your using this macbook pro then we need to talk bro. PLEASE!

dj-in-norway,

I don't know if you read the prior posts but I tried that and its not working.

Halo,

forget about what I said about the mac driver ect. Supposedly I should be able to work on this problem within xp as if I was using any random PC. That's what they said on the mac forums. So I just need to find a driver that is compatible with the 8600m gt and is 93.71 or lower. Do you know of any?

The MAC Book Pro is not mine personally. It is my other DJ friend who is lets say 'not computer savy' but is in this MAC daze and is in the same situation on willing to wait for the VDJ MAC version to get up to par with the PC version. - So I have helped him setup his MAC for VDJ under a bootcamp install. I will tell you that I don't know the differences among the MACs but he bought it just prior to the VDJ MAC release if that gives you a idea of time frame.

But all I have ever done is load the drivers from the MAC XP drivers disk built by the boot camp install. I just rebuilt his computer two weeks ago with the latest BC 1.3 and see significant differences from the original 1.1

Also, please note that the Videos we use are not VOB (when we can avoid it) we compress all our videos with 3ivX. That can make a difference in what's going on.

I have watched your posts and I am not sure what you are ultimately trying to accomplish and why you are struggling so much with the environment but everything on this end works straight out of the box with no tweaks or extra driver manipulations.

cstoll,

Your friend's mac is very different from mine and like I said before I had everything running fine with my previous macbook pro (the one he has). The new one come with many significant upgrades including the nvidia 8600m gt graphics card compared to the ATI 1600x.

I'm also using bootcamp 1.3. And yes it is much better.

Most of my videos are .vob and I haven't really tested any 3viX. But I'm completely sold on .vobs so I wouldn't switch.

Here is what I'm trying to accomplish:

I'm trying to get VDJ to run smooth on my macbook pro using bootcamp. That's it! Yes I have been struggling with the lack of support I'm getting not just from VDJ but from NVIDIA, APPLE ect... But I COMPLETELY understand that their are only a few people that use macs with VDJ let alone the ones with the santa rosa chip. So when I turn to NVIDIA they just send me to Apple since I''m using a mobile card and then Apple can't help much with bootcamp becuase its still beta.

Pretty much the only reason I bought this $3000 computer is to run it with VDJ. If I had to do it over again I would have just got a dope PC. I'm sorry if I've ever came across as having another agenda but it was only out of frustration. I really want to be a real member of this community and use the program successfully.

DJ ALF,

I checked out that link you gave me for another driver and it doesn't support the 8600 GT mobile card.

I think you got yourself a problem, there is no driver for your card nowhere, Nvidia does not have them too which is very strange, how the hell they released that card and don't support it? Very unprofessional from Nvidia :/

Don't think they ARE NOT supporting it - it works just fine in the OSX environment. Who said they have to support it under the BootCamp environment?

@Donnie - Dude, sorry I can't help you further and to bad you don't have that other MAC Book. I know the MAC community have been waiting for the MAC VDJ version and it's not as up-to-par with the PC version but I understand it will be soon. -- Don't know how soon, just read a post on the MAC thread that said that. --

DJ Alf,

There are a few drivers (about 5) for my card @ laptopvideo2go.com I tried each one out with vdj and I'm still getting the freezing problem. Rivatuner won't support any of the drivers for my card.

cstoll,

This card isn't found only in my laptop, it can be found in many top of the line PCs. When in windows using bootcamp I can select any win xp driver I want that supports the card (there are about 5) it has nothing to do with bootcamp.

I know it has to do with this turbocache BS and VDJ. On the OSX side its saying that the card is running at 256 vram and my xp side is saying 512.

One last thing, the card is working flawlessly with every video application I've tried in win xp except for VDJ. There are many posts on this forum with people having this freezing issue. Is this just a known bug? Should I just try and return the Mac and go PC?

Perhaps speak to apple, and see if they have a video card that does NOT support Turbocache, that fits your system.

All the new macbook pros are coming with this card. I guess I hit a dead end. I'm going to try and return this bastard (I've had it for like 2 weeks) and put the money towards the bomb PC.

Wish me luck.
