Topic: External HD defrag problem

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello everyone, new to the forum and software. I figured it would be wise to derfrag the external HD that contains all my MP3 files before i started using VDJ on the road, but when trying to do so i get a " CHKDSK /F error"
I can't figure out what this is for the life of me. Anyone else encounter this before and is so what was the fix?
Any help would be great.

Thanks, Alex.

it's "chkdsk /F C:" to defrag the partition C:

Verify the letter for your external hard drive

Also be careful with external drives and Windows. Make sure that you either shut down Windows completely or eject the external drive before removing it from your system. (Right click on the drive under MY COMPUTER, and select EJECT.) Unplugging the drive while Windows is using it will cause data corruption. (Which might have been the source of your CHKDSK message.)
