Topic: Storing All VDJ Tracks in 1 Folder?

Hey Guys,
I forget which blog I was reading but one DJ was complaining about his VDJ freezing pretty much because he had over 20,000 songs in the same folder. My question is how many is too many for one folder. I keep my seperated by genre but I am wondering what is too much?

Hi ,
That is how my music is organised, some folders have around 5000 songs , and it is fine , it just takes a while to open thats is the only problem , but we are only talking about maybe 10 seconds so not really a problem for me.

I kinda do the same thing I have one main folder for mp3, one for Video, and one for karaoke. They are seperated into genre. The best thing to do is to open these folders before playing and leave them open and there wont be a problem. Now when I used PCDJ I couldnt do this as it would freeze the computer, but with VDJ it is fine. Another thing I do is make waitlists of stuff I know I am gonna play and use that and add to it. I just started dabbling into the virtual folders which I may just make virtual folders of what i got by genre then there is nothin to open. I will try this this week and let you know. IE. I have a main folder of mp3, instead of making a favorite folder of this one folder which has quite a few genres I am gonna make virtual folders like ALT, RAP, DANCE. I wanna see if it makes things quicker and from what I hear it does. I will post back.

Try to save a folder as a playlist, it should run much faster- because there is no reading from disk, file by file.

Hope this somewhat helps.
