Whats up all

My wife does some party planning on the side, and now wants be to blow the dust of my DJ skills and DJ the parties that she books for hiphop and R&B.

I used to DJ about 4 years ago nightly, with 1200's that I sold cause I thought I was leaving that part of my life behind...( I was wrong).

I purhcased VDJ a while back to DJ my sisters sweet 16 party, worked reall well, picked up everything really fast.

Basicly to make the long story short, I need help picking out the right hardware for the job:
If I didnt want to go Time coded what are my options?
I also want to set up a lighting scheme or Video?
Mixer recommendations?
Any other advice or hardware you can recommend

I plan on using this set up with a powerfull laptop and my M-Audio sound card that I use for protools.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

There's a guide to controllers here:

http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/59875/Hardware_Technical_Support/ultimate_guide_to_controllers.html?highlight=contoller%20guide

There's also a few new products coming out from numark which look good, but they're a good few months away i think.

Since you've got a soundcard, i think it probably comes down to:

If you're on a budget get a hercules dj control, good but quite small so the buttons are close together (but cheap)

Or there's the DAC-3 which is rack mountable, so good for mobile work and you can download a really good mapper for it!

Or if you like a bit of scratching you can get a pair of xp10s, touch sensitive scratch wheels (but the buttons aren't that great apparently).

Hope that helps.

XP10's are hard to get in N.A.

look into iCDX

or if you still have your TT's get timecodes

iCDX are to expensive

There was a guy telling me about a controller called..
Vec or Vex something

It has two large jogs and a mixer built into the unit. It was a midi controller only not a sound card...

I just dont remember what it was called....

Also do you know a good online shop in the US?

Sorry for all the questions yall

Well - what did you buy?

Well since everything seams so hard to purchase in the U.S. I went with the Mk2. So later I can upgrade to time coded TT's.

Also I might pick up a Mixer if I find Cutting and Scratching to hard to do with the Mk2 alone.
