Topic: Playing ambient Video's

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

So it is almost 4 am and I have been playing with the Demo version of V dj for the last several hours, So far it looks like a lot of fun, I have been patiently waiting for another "VJ" product to come out, but am getting a little tired of waiting, anyways, My question is this: I can play all of the music video that i ripped just fine, but i also ripped some ambient video the exact same way, the only difference that i can tell is the the ambient video does not have any sound track attached to it, will this stop it from loading. when ever i try to load am ambient clip i just receive a error where the track would normally begin to buffer. Does anyone have any ideas on this, could be because i am using the demo, but i would think this type of feature would be enabled. ANy IDEA's

Thanks

You can only load video with sound because VirtualDJ is first a djing software.

If you wanted a work around though, you could use a video editing program to put a silent soundtrack onto the clip, then it would work fine!

But as djcel said, it is designed as a video DJing software, so the features are mainly aimed towards that application.

Also, since you're a vj, you might be interested to know that virtual dj will work with FreeFrame video effects.

Just simply copy the effect files to C:\program files\virtualDJ\ plugins\ videoeffect

I have asked for ambient video as a new feature, so maybe it can be added in future versions :)

What is FreeFrame? Where is it available? I didn't see it in the video pluggins. Thanks

Freeframe is a standard in video plugins, for many different software apps, kinda like VSTs for audio apps (VDJ supports VSTs too)

There are lots of free freeframe video effects, and there are lots of proffesional ones that cost money.
Same goes for VST audio effects

Both are DLL files, that can be dropped into the right VDJ plugin directory, and be used by VDJ

Here is a good start:

Some nice free ones in this pack:

I run two seperate sound cards and run two seperate programs outputed to a mixer. That way I can run ambient on one program and audio on the other program and sound card.
