Actually therealbjthedj, I'm interested to know whether or not you are a switcher. Meaning, were you a windows user and this is you first Mac, or is this a Mac upgrade for you because yuo were already a Mac user?
Just wondering. =)

I was going to buy a MAC, but I think I'm gonna buy a new Vaio with Vista loaded instead.
I'm hearing sooo much good about it now, it's hard to make the switch.

To each his own. =)
I might Boot Camp Vista onto my MacBook Pro later on if I ever have the need for windows, but after VDJ/VV Mac is released, I have no need for windows whatsoever at this time.
I like the peace of mind of knowing that I can make my Mac a 100% native windows or even Linux pc anytime I want to and that I'm not tied into windows only. Yes, you can put Linux on windows pc's as well, and even hackenstein Mac OS X on there too, but I'm not a big fan of slop jobs. ;)
The fact that you can have a Mac, windows, and Linux pc all on one computer makes for peace of mind for so many people.
That's why the switcher movement is gaining so much momentum over the past couple of years and the tech industry and general public can't help but take notice. =)

I used to care about computer gaming... when I was 12.
Now I just use a console on the rare occasion that I get the chance to play a game like so many other people, because I hear the stories of Night Elves being in the middle of an epic battle fighting for their Guild and having windows take a typical microsoft branded dump on them.
I do LOVE knowing that I can play ANY windows game (or run ANY windows app at all) on my Mac whenever I want to though. =)
VDJ windows is the only reason I have windows on my MBP and I can't wait to give those 10Gb's back to my Mac once VDJ Mac is released.
Then I can dump windows (as opposed to it taking a dump on me) right where it belongs, in the trash can of my Mac (no, we don't use "Recycle Bins"). ;)

But you forgot the most important part:
BUT NOW I HAVE AN OS THAT DOESN'T BLOW CHUNKS BECAUSE OF mICROSOFT'S INCOMPETENCE AND VISTA IS JUST A CHEAP KNOCK OFF OF WHAT MAC OS X HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO AND LOOKED LIKE SINCE 2001.
If you want to see what windows will look like in 5 years, use a Mac today.
The post 2010 version of windows will be previewed very shortly.
It's called Mac OS X Leopard. =D

If MS is such a chunk blowing piece of crap, there must be some other reason by billions of happy people use it every day.
A cheap knock off?
Says who?
We incorporated a MAC into a presentation the other day in fact.
It blew chunks and threw up the login screen on the 9x12 when it needed a poddy break every 5 minutes.
Then we had to find the owner to get it back.
What a proud moment....rather have a banana, apples give me the runs.

Yup. It's called default use. windows got it's lions share of the OS, web browser, and media player market through the illegal business tactics that it has been convicted for by 3 countries in the past 5 years for.
In a nutshell, windows was simply tolerated from '95 until the past couple of years because people felt that for some reason they should use the same OS as what their work computers used.
Now that people have viable, better options like Mac (which can run windows xp or vista 100% natively) and Linux at home and they depend on their computers for a lot more than just typing letters and gaming, the people are excercising their right to choose.
Because end users are entrusting their home computers with much more important information (docs, files, pix, movies, music, multimedia projects, production, etc. )for different reasons (home, work, school), they are now demanding that their computers be stable, reliable, and compatibile.
microsoft and windows continue to drop the ball on all those key points.
Convicted illegal monopolies like microsoft and hastily stitched together and shoved out the door OS's like xp and vista don't do very well when freedom of choice is introduced into the equation and those choices are better in pretty much every way.
In the case of Macs, you can very easily add the pain that is windows if your into self inflicted torture.

Anyvone like me with 17 years experience on both platforms and remembers windows pre-95. What did it look like? A black screen with a cursor prompt.
What did it try to impersonate (poorly) with the introdustion of '95. Mac OS circa 1984.
Who says? The knowing public.

I am still trying to figure that out.
All I can say is there are many products out there that are superior to there counter parts but never become mainstream. For example beta over vhs, virtual dj over ssl and mac os over windows.

Beta's loss to VHS as the dominant format in the consumer market was in large part because of Sony's inferior marketing of it's Betamax product over Matshita's marketing of VHS.
I believe that the VirtualDJ vs. SSL issue is currently mostly do to demographics (Europe vs. U.S) and also the differences in emphasis placed on different aspects of the art of turntablism and dj'ing, as well as the difference in the preferred choice of equipment by most professionals in our field here in the U.S. (Macs) as opposed to the imposed equipment of necessity in Europe (windows). U.S. based Numark and it's Virtual Vinyl product proves what I've been saying for almost a year now, Atomix and it's VDJ product are gonna have to cater to the high profile, Mac using turntablists if they want to be taken seriously over here and have a chance against SSL.
I believe Virtual Vinyl will become a very serious contender right off the bat and continue it's adoption even after SSL adds video capabilities later on. They've got a long way to go to cover the ground that Atomix has already covered for years now. ;)
As far as Mac vs. windows, that battle really began back in 2002 with windows users switching in low numbers (thousands) and peaking at tens of thousands in 2004. However by 2005 and through last year with those switcher numbers reaching 400,000 and exceeding 800,000 repectively, it's obvious that the "jigs up" for microsoft and it's windows products marketing. They've been given too many chances for way to long and they only have their own incompetence to blame for that.
Wall Street estimates that anywhere from 1.2 to 1.4 million windows users will swith to Mac in 2007. Do you see a pattern here? The numbers doubled from '05 to '06 and will very likely nearly double again in '07.
I hope billy g and microsoft had fun with their distorted game of checkers while it lasted, because Steve Jobs and Apple have been playing chess for the past 6 years and every move they've made has been devastating to microsoft in that those moves expose bg and m$ for the talentless, classless, thieving clowns that they are.
Judging by the number of switchers converting to Mac, it looks like the public doesn't like the circus that microsoft and Ringmaster bg have kept them in for the past decade. it's not funny to them anymore.
They want to enjoy themselves and have real fun now.
They want Macs.
