Topic: Virtual DJ + Standalone Mixer? possible?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

hey guys,

i downloaded the latest trial version of Virtual DJ over the weekend. Great software I must say, it does alot and i really like the easy to use interface...anyhow i do have one question and was hoping some of you could answer...

i run a dell xps m1710 (notebook), and I do have a pionner 600 mixer...i had some decks ( technics (mk5's) but they got stolen out of my car a while back..anyhow i wanted to know if it is possible to set this mixer up to be able to crossfade between the two decks on virtual dj...

in other words would i be able to mix a song using the pioneer 600 by sliding the fader from left to right? or do i need to get a midi controller? sorry if this question has been asnwered already...kind of a noob at this whole dj controlelr thing...i am used to serato and the llike...but i do like this sofware much better...

if i can mix using the pionner 600...how would one go about setting it up?

thanks alot guys...keep rockin

Sure you can! All you need is a soundcard (4.1, for example) with 2 or more outputs. With that 4.1 soundcard you can just let your 1st channel come out of the front output and your 2nd channel out of the rear output.
2 cinch cables to each channel on your mixer and mix away! :)

It depends on your sound card. Go into config>Sound Setup and select an option that will work for you. Try external mixer first, and select a sound card setup that fits your computer. Come back if you have issues.

You don't need to spend too much money, get any serie of soundblaster live and you can configure it in 4.1 mode.
