I just bought a new laptop. With Vista, I tried to install Hercules DJC. I managed to install it after some issues. Then ,I tried to open VDJ. Well ,I got a message that wanted to check for a new version. After clicking on it ,I got another message saying "the controler has not been detected, please plug the controler and start vdj again". When I unplugged it and replugged it , it still did'nt make a difference. So , I went to hercules.com to find new updates and found one. After updating it , it continued to do the same thing. So , I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it again. And still the same thing , VDJ won't even open , Please help!

if you run it with out the console it should be fine
Posted Sat 24 Feb 07 @ 12:52 am
Actually it won't run without the the console because it has'nt been upgraded to pro edition. How do I obtain it again. When the DJC EDITION is the VDJ , I have? And it won't open to install the pro version.

Same Boat,
Just payed beucoup dollars for the MK2 with the idea to go pick up a Notebook/Laptop and guess what??? Computers are no longer sold with XP but I figured that software being sold with the package should have an easily updateable version online.... Found the Patch for Vista to run the MK2 console but 50% of the deal was to get the Virtual DJ softare to have a decent mixing system... Now the only answer is very soon for an update... I am a little worried seeing threads back a few weeks with people having this concern and it is now going to be March 1st... It appears that the New Virtual DJ Pro works fine with the station so now my MK2 becomes dust collector or I must spend another couple of hundred bucks to use it.... Need to hire some new software Engineersit looks like I would imagine to turn off the 4 or 5 differences between the software for Virtual dj Pro to work on the MK2 should not take more than a few hours (Okay I would give a week)... I Need to go look at my receipt to see how long I have to return my Paperweight ;-( Of course there is a restocking fee probably to bring it back...
That really stinks since it looks like I would of had a great set up.... Any Idea on how the upgrade is going because I may download the pro for the 20 days and keep the MK2 if I know I will have the stripped down software version available that was part of my purchase agreement...

Skyfxl that is some good news and if that is the case I will most likely hang onto my console.... If the software guys feel that they want some common folk to give it a try for testing purposes please feel free to send it my way... I will gladly send them back a process/trial update as to how my success and or failure goes..... TNX again...

We don't have a "patch" for Vista, we already have VirtualDJ Pro 4.2r1 working with Vista. Please read it again if it's not clear. VirtualDJ Professional 4.2r1 works with Vista, no patch is needed because it works.
Hercules is a controller and also has a soundcard, because of that you need the correct drivers for 1.- The Controller (as a Midi Controller) and 2.- The Soundcard (because the Mk2 has a soundcard included) . VirtualDJ don't made the consoles, it's HERCULES, so you can get your drivers and support for your console in there; we don't make hercules drivers, Hercules did it.
If the soundcard don't work, isn't because of VirtualDJ, it's because the drivers for that soundcard. If you change your soundcard for one that is full supported in Vista, no problem then.

Skyfxl....any ideas why the say that to me?

Hi Fellows... not to much over here but I hope this could be clear for everyone now...
You know, many person don't stop to read about the updates... It's common that people thinks that Hercules is the same as VirtualDJ but it is not, they are different companies.
The confuse it's because the people don't understand what is going on (and not all their fault because the companies sometimes are not clear in their statments). Hercules only Work with Vista 32 bits, not in 64 bits for example. And also Hercules DJconsoles are sold with VirtualDJ Home Edition 3.2. And are upgradeable in VirtualDJ website to homeEdition (console edition) 3.4 only, because that was the agreemment with them.
We already have 6 months with VirtualDJ 4.x. This version is only available for professional users. And VirtualDJ Pro 4.2r1 works perfect with Windows Vista now. That's why Hercules webpage announce that the upgrade will be available soon... but it's in Hercules side that this is going to happend. Hercules paid some money to Atomix Prod. to have VirtualDJ Home Edtion on their Consoles... if they pay for the 4.x version, they can have it for sure... I think in there is were this problem is now.
As a commom user, you can use VirtualDJ Pro and get rid of all these problems. But also, if you get an error, it is highly possible that is because of the drivers... Hercules are debugging their Windows Vista drivers, and also, have to work for the 64 bits version later.
This is not an exact sciense, you cannot have all the configuration of everyone and because of that, some time it's needed to fully have probe the drivers (or the program) and it's stable in almost all configuration. Because of Vista, the must afected are the drivers of the hardware makers.

in the words of herc support FOR (the mk2 dj console only )
console users will need to wait for version 4.3 (pro users)
and 3.4.1 home edition comming soon in order to use it.
4.2r1 works fine on vista with out the mk2 console and with all over soundcards yes
the mp3 console should work fine in vista ensure you have the latest driver

For the moment, the mK2 can work with the professional version 4.2r1 of VirtualDJ if you select the 4.1 sound card bitmap and then the hercules sound card in the list.
An update 3.4.1 will be available for home editions users.
