maybe under config
have a tab just for the database
like a load and save option
and something like merge databases
i made a deal with a friend
he provides me with the music videos and i do the work
edit the files, analyze them, set the cues etc...
after the work is done i give him the database
would be nice to have another separate DB
i know this can be done outside of the program by switching the DBs
but this means,
everytime i have to,
exit vdj
rename the DBs
etc...
and start vdj again
too much work
as always just a wish...

sounds like a cool idea could allow more than one dj to use a pc

Use the Registry tool by DJ CEL http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/view.html?type=tool
and check the option for "No Modif Files" before to your friend use your Virtual DJ and remember to re-check the option after...

* NoModifFiles: was intended at first for situation where you want to let someone mess with your pc, but you don't want them to be able to make any permanent modification (like in case you have a guest dj playing on your system in your club).The side effect is that it disable all rename/delete/copy/move of files in vdj's browser, and it doesn't save neither the database nor the config at the end.

but i didn't mean to use the database on the same computer
my friend has his own setup
just would like to give him a separate DB for his files
of course it would be also a nice option to have
for multiplied users on one(the same) computer using the same win login

it would be cool if say each dj could come with a database + files , on an external harddrive and just swap drives

that would be the (near) future of vdj
all clubs have a computer besides the tts and cdps
your choice... cds... vinyls... or your external storage device with your database on it
maybe also to be able to save a (separate) database for a particular portion of your hdds
for example you have a few hardrives/partitions(c, d, e & f)
and you would like to save/make a database for the hiphop folder on drive e
also have an option to delete data which is actually not on your harddrives anymore
to keep the database lighter and tight
let's say you analyzed a few songs in the past and moved them to another computer or just deleted them
do it over and over again
the data will stay in the database and accumulates
i'm pretty sure that 20~30% of my database is useless or incorrect
songs i deleted, moved or analyzed by "mistake", songs i'm sure i will never ever play again
so, this option would rescan and verify if all songs in the database are really existing
(of course being able to select which drives and folders to scan)
