I have 4.1r2 installed on my home desktop and 3.4 on my club/mobile rig - the reason being is that the automix function still seems to be ramdomly skipping songs in the playlist and when it does play them sometimes starts half or 3/4 of the way through.
I discovered this while having virtualdj playing christmas caroles while putting the tree up with my G/f
I've had this error before in 4.0 & 4.1 but hoped it would have been addressed in 4.1r1?
It's awfull embarresing when putting only three songs in queue when running to the potty and coming out to a dead quiet nightclub and the doormen giving me sarcastic rounds of applause, and a dirty look from the club owner.
That and I like Daniels dac-2 mapper so much I'm reluctant to change over yet.

do they have orange symbols are they analized?
what config do you have on automix
what config do you have on automix

most aren't analized on the home compy.
automix is: - force fade enabled 0.9 sec
everything else is disabled, no autobeatmatch, no autofunctons other than straight relay play, one deck to the other.
I only use automix when it's slow at work (sunday nights) or at home for background music
automix on the club rig works like a charm - set it and forget it.

u gota analize all files or how can automix know what to do lol
Posted Tue 12 Dec 06 @ 10:09 am
skyfxl that is not the case, all files not analyzed are analyzed at load, so automix knows exactly how to act...
Hey, Marcel - is the install at home a fresh install? Or did you upgrade / install over the top as the new versions came out???
I have been watching this problem and have never experienced it or been able to create it? So, my thoughts stem to maybe one of the .dlls installed as part of the install is the difference, because if it was inherent to virtualdj.exe then I should be experiencing it on my club and home machine but I am not. The difference is for me that I have never, ever done a 100% fresh install of VirtualDJ since 3.1 released.

Mine on the home compy is a brand spanking new fresh install.
the one on the club rig is was origionally 3.4 - then 4.0 than back to 3.4; 4.1 or 4.1r1 has never been installed on the club rig.
but makes me start to head scratch - why o why?.
Dunno - I'll try analizing everything tonight when I head to sleep and check it on my days off this week.
I only work 4 days a week for my day job. - nice for dj'ing

Dashard.dll - Created the same date as the install 12/2/2006
Libra52.dll - same
dirac.dll - didn;t find it
might be the problem
I'll re-install it and check in later

For what's worth...I downloaded the trial version en testin vdj now. I have the same problem.
I didn't have any previouses releases on my system.
The automix doesn't work at all and although I will be mixing manually most of the time, I just need that feature once in a while. If it's not reliable I can't afford spending over 200 euro's on program with a nasty bug.
If there is an update, how can I get it into the trial? it's the most userfriendly and the coolest graphical interface of all software i've seen upon till now. But so far Sams is the most reliable program. Can anyone give an update before I make my final decission?

Like I said all automatic functions turned off force fade enabled and set to 0.9sec
funny though only version i get this on is 4 and newer, older versions worked like a damn

Marcel wish I could give more insight. I have watched this problem since 4 released and I have never been able to recreate the issue. I have seen things that don't make sense but never experienced the problem and those anomalies were only when I tried forcing the problem to occur. BTW, I use the automix at home when I am doing things like this - writing on the forums. I use VDJ in every environment - can't stand winamp, media player or any other personal media player - I use VDJ for everything. So, you can image that if I was going to experience the problem it would have creeped on me by now.
I know you are very knowledgeable, but have you made sure the direct X was up-to-date? I am grabbing in the dark here (only because I keep all my stuff 100% current and it's hard to go backwards just to test a bug).

here's an update: I havn't done a re-install yet but it's coming quick i think.
I updated windows media player to v11
updated Directx to lastest and greatest from window's update
I do not have any games installed on my Home comp (ok roller coaster tycoon)
VDJ seems to no longer skip tracks entirely but it is still starting halfway through a track - it'll start normally then jump to aporx 75% of the song then slam into the next one

i think its loading there because of ur automix settings
if you would like a different cue point press the BPM button next to automix
and adjust its starting behavior

OKAY Here it goes.........
RE - installed VDJ 4.1r2
Updated directx 9.0
Updated windows Media Player to v11
Scanned the folder that my music on my desktop is in
Turned the performance tab all the way to fastest, was in the mid range.
And the problem seems to have gone away for the momment.
I was forcing the songs (moveing the song along in the waveform to just before the mix cue) and they seemed to start properly and play along doing they're thing.
still all automated fuctions turned off , timestrech enabled, force fade enabled at 0.5 sec, and it seemed to bouce between players effectively.
Might just have been me but it was probaly just turning the performance tab down that did the trick.
Which begs the question.......
Why Is it there?
Almost every time there is a timecode problem or sound quality problem the first suggestion is to turn the prefomance tab down to fastest.
I dunno I'm not a programmer, Starting to think I should go back to school, ditch this whole fixing cars thing and learn these little boxes that cause so much irritation........... No on second thought it pretty much sounds like the same thing only different formats
cars - break down and people think I'm lying to them then want they're 15 year old hunk of crap that hasn't seen maintenece since it came off warrenty to run like new after I fix the brakes
Computers - Crash because of all the extra crap they and they're kids put on the harddrive from games and porn, and them think that I'm lying to them when I tell them the only way to fix it is to reformat and re-install
Either way people think that I'm a Liar
One of these days I'm gonna start.

Performance is not the problem. I use Best Quality at home and the club and don't have the problem. So, change it back and even higher and see if the problem comes back?

Even though you did uninstall and re-install VDJ, I think the key is in the upgrades. The only one that would have mattered is the DirectX as that is the only one I have also upgraded at my club. MediaPlayer is still v10.
But then again I have been wrong about the uninstall and reload fixing problems. Well I guess to test the theory you could always upgrade DirectX at your club and jump to 4.x and see if everything is fine?
