Topic: Does my comp have the power to use TCV?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Gateway MX6429 specs:

AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-32
Operates at 1.58 GHz
512 KB L2 Cache and HydperTransport Technology at up to 1600 MHz
448 MB RAM
ATi Radeon Xpress 200M Graphics, 64MB Shared Video Memory
50GB

I plan on getting a U46DJ sound card, VDJ pro, and TCV. Do you think my comp will work smoothly with TCV? I've been hearing a lot of horror stories about TCV lately but I really want to get VDJ and I'm not a huge fan of the Hercules. Thanks in advance!

That should be just fine as long as you don't do trick scratches.

Make sure you tweak your computer for audio.

what exactly do you mean "trick scratches"? I mean, I'll be able to scratch into new tracks right? I'm guessing you mean like crazy battle scratching? I just want to be able to mix hip hop with basic scratching...will this work fine?

I know what you're talking about. As for now, I don't think VDJ has the capability to perform QUALITY Scratches as what Serato can do. There is a major fault in the TCVs and personally, I spin Hip-Hop and VDJ is just not IT for me when it comes scratching.

so do you use serato for your shows? I'm a bit confused on what your advice is.

I would seriously consider upgrading your ram. After one night, VDJ uses up to 250mb of my ram. For some reason, VDJ doesnt dump the unused songs after its finished playing them, unless this is done for a certain reason.

There was a guy here the other day with a 1.6 celeron and it was giving him hassles cause it wasnt fast enough. Im not sure how well the turion will hold up...

448 MB RAM

thats a possible sign of a ram problem as thats probaly ment to be 512
