Hi everyone,
I own a Hercules DJ Control mp3, and I'm using Virtual Dj to mix my tracks. The software is pretty stable and fast, however there is one basic thing i haven't been able to achieve. The headphones button (the one which allows you to listen the next track to be mixed in the headphones) must be pressed in order to hear it. As soon as you release it, you stop listening to it. So, isn't there a way to TOGGLE (switch on/off) the headphones button?
Thanks a lot

lol, i'm afraid bluetack won't do the job...
seriously, isn't it possible to just turn on/off headphones output for a deck? If not, how you guys do mix? You need to keep the button pressed all through the mix?

Hi there,
I'm using the Control version (http://www.hercules.com/showpage.php?swcty=UK&p=126&b=0&f=0), which doesn't have a sound card. I'm using an external sound card. The djc mp3 control has a button (in fact two, one for each deck) that enables me to preview that desk in my headphones. In example, when i use the control with Traktor, i can assign that button to the "Cue" button, therefore swithing on/off the desks i want to prelisten in my headphones. In Traktor's midi mapping settings, i can set that button to "toggle", which is exactly what i want to achieve in virtual dj.
Does it make sense now? Sorry if i didn't make myself clear enough.
thanks for your help.

sorry, "headphone mode"?
In Settings/Sound Card i have the "Headphones on 4.1 rear output" checked, which is ok (if i press and KEEP PRESSED the Cue Seletion button on my djc mp3 i can hear the cued deck on my headphones). However, I still need to keep it pressed. As soon as i release the button, i can't hear anything on my headphones.
My problem is not being able to route sound to the headphones. That's working fine. My problem is how to keep hearing my cued track on my headphones without needing to keep my finger pushing the djc mp3 button.
thanks again.

skyfxl, I know you're trying to be helpful and like to write a lot, but I'd personally rather hear a straightforward answer to the matter when looking for an answer on a forum than discussing headphone ability with that particular version.
The matter here is a known problem (or at least I've read already about it on the forum) which probably can be solved, so my advice would be to search for it either in Software Technical Support forum or better yet Hardware Technical Support. Try different search keywords headphone+button, cue problem/button + hercules, etc. to find the topic.
If you're using Hercules as a MIDI device, it's possible to assign (and modify) any control to any function of VDj (under Settings > Remote Control > MIDI > Config...). If it's possible with your version I don't know, but I suggest you do a little research on those forums, because it was probably already discussed :) Or wait for an answer from someone with experience with this controller.
Regards,
e

This is a limitation of your Virtual DJ 3.4 DJ console version http://www.virtualdj.com/products/djcedition.html
You can delete this limitation and make free your finger only with PRO version http://www.virtualdj.com/purchase/
@ erxon - Midi option work only in PRO version.

thanks everyone for your help. I found this post http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/45734/Hardware_Technical_Support/Need_help_w__DJ_Control_MP3_Headphone_Prelisten_Options.html?highlight=headphones%20and%20button
where I read that the free edition of vdj i got with my control has this limitation (wtf!)
Well, at least now i don't need to smash my head to a wall anymore for not being able to enable such a basic feature.
thanks again :)
