One feature I really like from Traktor DJ Studio (before using VDJ) is using the delete key to quickly remove the sound from a track. So say I am playing on deck one and there is one sound I want to remove, I just hold down the delete key and it mutes for as long as I press the del key. This could apply to deck a or deck b depending on which is activated.
This is really good if you want to censor out a weird sound, swearing, or when something has gone wrong. It's quicker than using the crossfader.

Create a shortcut:
Settings > Keyboard shortcuts > Add:
mixer > level, momentarily checked, value=0, on default deck
If you want to mute the master, choose "system volumes > master_volume" with the same settings instead.
